Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal some sad news, as Patrick Muldoon, the original Austin Reed, was found dead at the age of 57, in his Beverly Hills home.
As per TMZ, Muldoon suffered a heart attack. The actor’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told the media outlet that Muldoon enjoyed a cup of coffee with his partner, Miriam Rothbart, the morning of Sunday, April 19.
After that, he decided to take a shower; however, after being there for longer than usual, his girlfriend checked in on him and found him unconscious on the floor.
While she called 9-1-1, when the paramedics arrived on the scene, they could not revive him.
Days fans will recall that Muldoon played Austin from 1992 to 1995 and returned to the show in 2011 for about a year.
Actor Austin Peck became the Austin Reed recast from 1995 to 2006 and again from 2017 to 2021.
In addition to his Days role, Muldoon had a few appearances on the Tony Danza comedy, “Who’s the Boss?” in 1990, as well as the teen television series, Saved by the Bell, in 1991, before his stint in Salem.
Muldoon also had a nice run on the primetime soap opera, Melrose Place, from 1995 to 1996, playing the dastardly Richard Hart.
The actor starred in a number of films, including Starship Troopers, Deadlock, Vanquish, and Dakota – just to name a few. His last movie, Dirty Hands, is scheduled to be released later in 2026.
With that said, in more recent years, Muldoon was also a producer, working on several projects via his Storyboard Productions company, including Riff Raff, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Marlowe, The Card Counter, Arkansas, and The Dreadful.
He was also set to work on a movie titled Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth. The actor posted mere days prior to his passing on Instagram that he was very excited to be a part of the flick.
Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, his parents, Patrick Muldoon Sr. and Deanna Muldoon, his sister Shana, and brother-in-law Ahmet Zappa, as well as his niece and nephew Halo and Arrow Zappa.
