In tonight’s Elsbeth episode, Rachel Withers threw a regency party for herself. She inherited a beautiful chateau in the South of France. She was moving there to start her dream life and she just wanted one night to celebrate herself. Yet, her supposed best friend couldn’t take it.
Her friend told everyone to change their RSVP. They all said they were going to the party and at the last minute they all changed their minds because Kimberely said so. Kimberely Brooks has been married three times. Rachel has always served as her bridesmaid. She celebrated the engagement parties. This included to the guys that never made it down the aisle.
The one thing Rachel seemed to have done wrong was that she didn’t want what Kimberely had. She didn’t want to get married for the sake of getting married.
She didn’t want to throw a wedding. Or have an engagement party. Or a proposal party. She just wanted to celebrate getting a house. She wanted her friends there to support her and that was too much for Kimberely. Kimberely blacklisted Rachel’s party. Their friend group pulled out with lame excuses on the night of. Rachel figured out that Kimberely failed her. And so she went to her apartment.
Rachel demanded to know why Kimberely didn’t attend the party, She’s been there for her countless times. She thought it only fair that those same people return the favor.
She’s been a bridesmaid twenty-six times. It doesn’t matter if the marriage works out or not. She still showed up for everyone. For more people than Kimberely ever did. Rachel’s confrontation with her revealed how toxic the friendship was. She accused Rachel of being jealous of her life. She said she never had to be there for anyone. She could have always said no.
Rachel did push things with how she created the event. She set her party up on a Thursday. She demanded everyone dress up in Regency chic. She demanded that they lock up their cell phones once they came in.
She made it a kids free event. She also set up a cash bar. It sounded less like an event and more like revenge in her email invitation. She demanded that everyone be there for her. She didn’t realize until the party that they were tolerating her at best. They just wanted someone to set up the parties. They didn’t genuinely care about her.
Especially after their Queen Bee gave them the signal to dismiss her. Kimberely ran that friend group. It was a toxic hot mom group and they left out Rachel because she wasn’t a mom or a wife. They thought she just talked about herself too much. They said she was a very selfish person.
They didn’t even ask her to throw those events for them. She volunteered because she always thought she could plan those events better than them. Which was true. She did plan great parties and she wasn’t a party planner. She worked for the government.
Some of the friends admitted that Rachel wouldn’t even have gotten invited if she didn’t plan the events. They were that cruel and still Rachel planned their parties.
She was doing so in the days after she killed Kimberely in that confrontation. She made it appear as if Kimberely’s husband killed her by putting what looked like the murder weapon in his hands. He was so drunk that he called the cops on himself the next morning. He was genuinely worried he might’ve killed his wife the night before.
It was just Elsbeth that didn’t believe Howie killed Kimberely. She was onto Rachel from the start. Rachel made the mistake of checking in with Kimberely via text the next morning and why would she do that if Kimberely RSVP no from the start. Elsbeth followed up with Rachel.
Rachel was already throwing a party for someone else. She kept throwing parties for her fake friends as Elsbeth kept finding holes in her story about that night. Rachel claimed to be at the venue for her party until Elsbeth found out one of the waiters stole most of the food to give away to the homeless.
He couldn’t have done that if Rachel was there like she claimed. Rachel then said she was with her new boyfriend. She did run into him that night. He ran over her heel with his bike and had tried to stop her in what he thought was an attempted suicide. It hadn’t been an attempt. Rachel was just drinking alone.
She bribed that guy to claim they fell in love that night with a new Cybertruck. The guy fell in love with her. She didn’t with him. She actually was telling the truth that she liked being single.
Anyways, the guy gave Elsbeth her shoes that night. He had access to her place. The shoes put Rachel at the murder scene and she was arrested for murder.
Elsbeth also heard Alec confess to lying about his backstory. He came clean to the press about it and he might not become Mayor because of it. But he knew was that he wanted to be in Elsbeth’s life. He asked her to watch ET with him because he wanted to show he was willing to work on the little lies on top of the big ones. And he cried when ET went home.
Elsbeth didn’t cry. She wasn’t sure about their future. Her friends weren’t voting for him because he hurt her feelings. Elsbeth also had Wagner’s 30th anniversary to look forward to.
Alec doesn’t look like he’ll be her plus one to the event. Yet, the detective that dated Wagner’s daughter for a brief time was still going. He tried to back out and his ex told him to just come to the party. Its okay if its uncomfortable as long as her dad was happy.
THE END!
