General Hospital (GH) recap for Friday, July 17, notes that Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) kiss, while Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has that black box.
Plus, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vagnos) say, “I love you.”
Time to unpack all the drama from the July 17 GH episode, as CDL has all the interesting moments covered below.
Brennan and Nina head to the Brown Dog for drinks after their failed black box search at Wyndmere.
Jack worries he’ll be transferred by the WSB after the entire “Ross Cullum” (Andrew Hawkes) debacle, and Nina shares why she crosses so many immoral lines to protect Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen).
Nina notes that her daughters were snatched from her when they were young.
Nina was never able to protect them then, and both lived terrible and traumatic childhoods.
Now that she’s a part of Willow’s life, she would do anything (and has) to remain firm where she is.
Brennan then says sorry for blackmailing her with that Willow/traffic cam video.
He stated he should have just asked her out on a date. Then he could’ve gotten to know Nina before she saved his life.
Nina felt as though he was holding that cam footage over her head, but he added that he wasn’t good at gratitude.
Brennan then stood up and passionately kissed her.
Meanwhile, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) and Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parsons) were at a table across the bar.
They talked about Lulu’s romance with Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey), and Lulu regretted blowing up her friendship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) all for a con man.
With that said, Ethan noted that Cassius’ feelings for Lulu were likely real.
General Hospital recaps for July 17 suggest that Ethan’s shooting and recovery came up, which is when he asked his sister about the 4-1-1 on Ava Jerome (Maura West).
This is when Lulu put two-and-two together, realizing Ethan had feelings for the art gallery owner.
Lulu warned Ethan about Ava, noting she would tear him to pieces if she ever found she was being played.
Speaking of Ava, she went to visit Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) with a baby gift for Phoebe Wilson (Lucia and Luna Creighton).
It’s clear, though, that Ava was looking for information. She asked about how the adoption was going, which is when BLQ straight-up questioned if Ava knew who Phoebe’s dad was.
Brook Lynn also believed Ava was a broker for Phoebe’s father in regard to a payoff.
Ava told Brook Lynn that she merely helped Alexis link with the gallery that Delilah Wilson (Lily Cardone) worked at.
BLQ asked if Ava had seen Phoebe’s dad in NYC. Ava remembered Ethan’s confession from the stockroom, where he confessed he wasn’t the baby’s dad.
Ava replied that she didn’t know who Phoebe’s dad was and encouraged BLQ not to look for trouble.
Over at Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) house, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) dropped off Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears).
Sonny was concerned about Carly and Valentin’s romance and how it would affect Donna.
With that said, Carly noted that who she dated was not his business.
As Carly was leaving, Brick (Stephen A. Smith) arrived.
After Carly left and some small talk, Sonny got right to business with Brick.
He wanted the man to find intel on Valentin so he could rid him from Carly’s life.
Brick agreed, but only if he presented the information directly to Carly.
General Hospital recaps reveal that Carly returned home to find Valentin cooking her dinner.
They got all lovey-dovey until she brought up Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) arrival back in PC.
Carly was worried Valentin still had feelings for Anna. With that said, he compared his relationship with Anna to hers with Sonny.
While Anna was the first woman Valentin loved, that was the past, and Carly is his future.
The two started kissing again, and Carly moved back and almost tripped on a black case – Brennan’s black box!
Valentin noted that he was looking for intel at Wyndemere to present to the WSB, so they’d unfreeze his accounts.
He noted he believes it was Cullum’s and would be valuable to the agency. He just needs to see what’s in it.
At the Q stables, Cody and Molly talk. Cody is still crushed over James West’s (Gary James Fuller) reaction to the news about Cassius.
Cody feels awful, especially since James is the reason he stayed in Port Charles and told Mac Scorpio (John J. York) that he was his son.
James made Cody want to be a better man and worthy of Molly.
Molly then says she’s proud of Cody, makes him a s’more, and tells him she loves him. He replies that he loves her too.
Lastly, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) storms into Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) room at the hospital.
She’s shocked. She’s there for a gunshot wound? She thought Joss was out of town!
This is when Josslyn confesses her WSB status.
Trina was shocked and upset that her BFF and roommate had lied for so long. She had noticed she was distant recently.
Joss pleaded that she didn’t want this to come between them. Trina agreed.
They decided on a code word – popcorn – when dealing with matters Joss couldn’t talk about.
That way, she wouldn’t have to lie to her again!
General Hospital spoilers hint that Josslyn was also updated on Trina’s new sibling and a music contract, so it’s nice that these two best friends were able to hash things out and smooth things over!
