General Hospital Friday, July 31 Recap: Ethan Flees PC & Escapes Hudson – Jason Quits Working for Sonny

General Hospital (GH) recap for Friday, July 31, indicates that Ethan Lovett (Christian Howard) realized he had to act fast while Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) revealed a huge career choice.

Here’s how all Friday’s excitement played out on the ABC soap.

At the Metro Court pool, Ethan took off in a hurry after seeing Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) and packed his luggage at Lulu Spencer’s (Alexa Havins Bruening) place.

Lulu found out Ethan was supposedly leaving Port Charles to take advantage of an opportunity he couldn’t pass up and keep a promise to someone.

Although Lulu worried about Ethan bailing on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), she agreed to support her half-brother.

Lulu wondered if Ethan wanted her to cover for him, but he insisted it was better if everyone knew he left town.

Later, Hudson called Lulu’s house and claimed he had a package to deliver, but it was obvious he really just wanted to confirm whether Ethan lived there or not.

Lulu told the caller not to bother since Ethan left the country with no forwarding address.

Back at the pool, Ava Jerome (Maura West) seemed hurt, irritated and confused over Ethan ditching her out of the blue.

Ava was also stunned to see Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) following his recovery and just as shocked to hear he was divorcing Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen).

Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) was determined to try keeping the peace with Drew for Scout Quartermaine’s (Kayden Brenna Tokarksi) sake, but that plan went awry when he accidentally spilled a drink all over Drew while he lounged poolside.

Drew blew up at Danny and suspected he soaked him on purpose.

Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) rushed to Danny’s defense and ultimately made it clear that Drew would never be a real part of the Quartermaine family.

Drew declared that by the time he was through, the Quartermaines would lose everything.

At Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) place, “Peter August” (Wes Ramsey) once again pressured her to kill Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and basically wipe away all traces of Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).

Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) wondered who Anna was talking to when she arrived, but Anna managed to cover before the conversation shifted to Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) WSB status.

Emma had lingering concerns about the WSB and whether they’d leave Anna alone, but she hinted about going to someone for help with that.

At the Metro Court Gardens, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) ordered up a bunch of fancy stuff now that his assets were unfrozen and he could finally treat Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) right.

Valentin also still planned to pursue buying back Wyndemere since it would make Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke) happy.

Carly wasn’t interested in staying over at the castle, but Valentin was fine with coming to her for their romantic time together.

When Anna showed up, she looked uneasy at the sight of Carly and Valentin kissing on their date.

At GH, Jason told Britt that Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) was connected to the WSB since he was the one who escorted Jason back from Jakarta.

Britt assumed Tristan had been sent to watch her and try to force her into more WSB drama, so she confronted him in an exam room.

After Britt threatened to report Tristan and get him fired, he insisted he wasn’t a WSB agent.

Tristan previously worked at a WSB medical facility, but he warned that he couldn’t get fired for that.

Although Tristan had sympathy for Britt when she explained her Huntington’s fake-out, he also thought she could benefit from therapy and switching to decaf!

At Sonny’s place, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) showed up for a strategy session since Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) assets would go up for auction once he went to prison, including Wyndemere and Sonny’s piers.

Sonny had a plan to keep the bidding to a minimum and summoned Jason to join this discussion.

There was tension between Jason and Ric soon after, but Sonny pushed them to get along.

Jason said that wouldn’t be a problem and reluctantly shook Ric’s hand, but he shocked Sonny with some big news after Ric left.

The reason it wouldn’t be a problem was because Jason was quitting the mob!

Sonny was definitely taken aback over Jason suddenly announcing that he couldn’t work for him any longer.

In the park, Ric came along and seemed jealous as he watched Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) bonding with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) ahead of the softball game.

As for Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), he was surprised when Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) assumed Dante and Liz were a couple.

Lucas confirmed Elizabeth was seeing someone else, but he admitted Dante would be a better option for her.

Joe and Lucas wound up connecting a bit before Britt showed up on equipment manager duty – though she obviously wasn’t happy about it!

General Hospital spoilers say Britt has more problems ahead of her, so stay tuned.

CDL will have other terrific General Hospital spoilers and news to check out, so pop back in soon for more GH info.
