General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that a rewrite could be brewing that sets up a new story twist. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is fully convinced that Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) was behind the attempts on his life, including the firebombing that resulted in Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) suffering severe burns.
In GH’s July 8 episode, Sonny delivered this information to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), who was stunned over Cullum’s role in the penthouse fire and the attack on Sonny at that LA hospital.
Carly sought confirmation on whether Cullum was truly responsible, so Sonny admitted Brick (Stephen A. Smith) didn’t have “definitive proof” – though he insisted they both knew it was Cullum.
Since Sonny pointed out there’s no firm evidence that Cullum was to blame, the door’s wide open for a curveball.
The show could use this to set up the next big bad that’s probably just around the corner.
What if someone simply wanted Sonny to believe Cullum was behind those attacks?
Maybe there’s somebody else out there who still wants to harm Sonny and is just waiting for the perfect time to strike.
If there’s another attempt on Sonny’s life, that could raise doubts about whether Cullum was actually at fault for the previous ones.
Brick might dig deeper and realize there’s another key player involved.
Some fans even think Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) might know more than he’s letting on.
Valentin’s reaction to Sonny’s news about Cullum was tough to read, so it’s possible he’s keeping secrets that’ll come out later.
Regardless, the fact that there’s no definitive proof against Cullum could be the writers’ way of setting up a shocker.
They could’ve just as easily written it so that there was firm Cullum evidence, but they left some wiggle room.
Perhaps that was done in preparation for a new villain’s arrival in Port Charles and a rewrite that’ll make this mystery baddie to blame instead.
Whatever the case, General Hospital spoilers suggest Sonny could still be in danger if another hit is on the way, so stay tuned.
