General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that the show recently confirmed a major link between Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) and Delilah Wilson (Lily Cardone), but they haven’t revealed the full story.
Ethan was partners with Delilah on a job they worked together and perhaps romantic partners too since she was blowing him a kiss in that photo he burned.
Some GH fans are assuming that means Ethan is the baby daddy, but that may not necessarily be true.
The show has certainly been working hard to make it seem like Ethan is the father, but they stopped short of confirming anything.
That’s strange since they had the perfect setup for Ethan to settle this once and for all in the May 6 episode.
As Ethan spoke to Delilah’s photo, he told her that he met “THE baby” and that her name was Phoebe.
It would’ve been so easy for Ethan to say “OUR baby” in a dramatic cliffhanger moment that sealed the deal.
If GH writers wanted to lock in the paternity, that’s exactly what they would’ve done. Instead, the door was left open for Ethan to be a red herring.
Why would Ethan say “the baby” like he had no paternal connection to this child if he was really Phoebe’s father?
That could mean that Delilah was already pregnant by someone else when she met Ethan and started working this job with him.
Ethan may have developed feelings for Delilah at some point and agreed to help protect her – potentially even from the actual baby daddy if he was bad news.
Even going back to the voicemails Ethan left before he knew about Delilah’s demise, it didn’t seem like there was a personal investment in her child.
Ethan simply indicated that he couldn’t help Delilah if she didn’t show up like they agreed.
The nature of Ethan and Delilah’s relationship may have been more about helping her escape whatever threat was following her.
In his scenes with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), Ethan was curious about whether any family had come forward to claim Phoebe.
That could be a sign that Ethan was concerned about the true father surfacing.
Plus, if Ethan is burning Delilah’s photo and getting so serious about burying all this, there has to be something pretty terrible going on that fans don’t know about yet.
The show still has to explain Delilah’s odd wrist tattoo, which presumably has nothing to do with Ethan.
That tattoo may be linked to the real father of Delilah’s baby, so there are more mysteries left to unravel.
