General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Ryan Paevey has wrapped his run as Cassius Faison aka fake Nathan West. The July 6 episode marked Paevey’s final appearance in the role – at least for now.
TV Insider confirmed the news of Ryan Paevey’s departure and offered up a brief interview with GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini, who shared that Paevey’s comeback was always meant to be a short-term storyline.
Valentini praised Paevey for the fantastic work he did and assured everyone that they loved having him on the show again.
As for whether Paevey might make another return down the road, that’s certainly a possibility – especially after the way Cassius arc ended.
Although Z (John Oliver) previously insisted Cassius was dead, that turned out to be a lie.
Cassius was last seen restrained in a hospital bed at an undisclosed location, where Z offered him a job as a way of avoiding the death penalty for everything he’d been accused of.
Of course, that could pave the way for future return stints if Paevey is ever willing to sign on for another run.
It’s clear that Valentin would be on board with Paevey reprising the role of Cassius for another round of drama.
“The door is always open for him to return,” Valentini confirmed.
For now, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and eventually James West (Gary James Fuller) will have to mourn a complicated loss.
Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) will also have to live with the knowledge that she lied about the level of Cassius’ involvement in the cold fusion project to make him seem like the big bad instead of Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
That’s something that Cassius might ultimately have an opportunity to confront Josslyn about if he returns somewhere down the line.
Assuming that Cassius accepts the WSB job offer that Z presented, he could tackle some new missions of his own following his recovery.
Cassius can kick off a new chapter off-screen and hopefully come back to GH when the time is right.
General Hospital spoilers say the show must go on, so there’ll be plenty of other stories and curveballs to look forward to now that Ryan Paevey has exited as Cassius Faison.
