General Hospital (GH) spoilers imply Steve Burton is on cloud 9 and recently reacted to his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination and also shared the shocking way he found out about being nominated.
Burton had a huge Monday return, not only with his character, Jason Morgan, making an explosive return to the canvas after a three-month hiatus, but also learning that he received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the prestigious Lead Actor category.
Burton, along with his fellow GH co-star and podcast co-host, Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli), uploaded a video on their YouTube channel, and the actor responded to the Daytime Emmy nod.
Anderson noted that Burton had “quite the day” on July 13, with his character not only making a comeback during General Hospital’s milestone 16,000th episode, but also getting a Daytime Emmy nomination.
Burton told Anderson about how he and his wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton, found out about his lead actor nod.
They were given instructions via an email from the Daytime Emmys on how certain nominations would be revealed.
Still, with all the time zone differences, the two were a little confused about where to find out about nominations.
Burton ended up Googling it, and bam! That’s how he discovered he was on the list of Daytime Emmy nominees in the lead actor category.
Burton told Anderson, “I know it’s such a cliché to say, ‘Oh, I’m just so honored to be nominated,’ but truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated.”
The soap actor also noted that Executive Producer Frank Valentini reached out via text, and Burton thanked him for the opportunity of being on the show.
Burton joins an incredible list of daytime leading men when it comes to his category.
The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) are also nominees, as well as The Bold and the Beautiful’s (B&B) Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) and Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer).
Burton credits GH’s Elizabeth Korte and Michelle Henry, who put together his Emmy reel for submission, and also mentioned Laura Wright (Carly Spencer), who pointed out some shows that he might have wanted to add.
Still, Burton reveals that this nomination is a way to honor the late Leslie Charleson, who played his onscreen mom, Monica Quartermaine.
Burton states that a lot of his good material was because of her, and the Emmy nod is a nice tribute to her, and how Jason started on the show as a “Quartermaine”.
General Hospital spoilers note that the Daytime Emmys take place on Friday, October 30, so fans have months before they learn who will snag the Lead Actor award, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
