In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy recap, Bailey was going back to school to get her Masters. She was super proud of herself. So much so that she was talking about herself in the third person. She soon forgot about school when she had to focus on other things. Catherine was opening a new wing of the hospital called the Olympic Floor. They would be treating patients like they were at a spa. They had hotel worthy bed sheets up there. There was a surgical suite. There was also private security so that the famous people wouldn’t have to deal with the regular people.

Winston laughed because he was covering for three doctors as the hospital spent money elsewhere. Not that he could talk because Ben caught him trading coffees with Jules. There were strict rules in place now about residents and attendees. They have to fill out a form now. Ben didn’t bring it up because the hospital soon was full of patients. There were two planes that collided on the runway. They were both cleared by air traffic control. It was later revealed that the man responsible had made such a big error that it was giving him a heart attack.

His name is Larry. He was also sent to the hospital. He watched as everyone he hurt got wheeled in. It wasn’t good for his own condition. Winston was seeing to him as Ben as well as Lucas and even Link found themselves in the middle of a fight between two doctors. Amelia was fighting with her girlfriend. They got into a massive fight to the point where they could barely be in the same room as each other. Much less treat the same patient. Amelia found that the woman can make work personal because she was rushing someone to plastics when they needed a CT.

There was a pilot that suffered from internal decapitation. It really wasn’t time for someone to cop an attitude. Amelia was forced to overrule her now former girlfriend. She was also open to dating again. She literally was asking Link if he could set her up with someone. He thought it best not to go there. Lucas offered to introduce someone he skateboards with. Amelia hadn’t been interested in a child. Lucas was her nephew and his friends were far too young for her. Which she realized on her own.

That has to be personal growth!

Meredith had come back for the VIP opening. She didn’t expect that she would run into a young man who needed urgent care. He hadn’t been on either flight. He had stomach pains. He’d been at the hospital for six hours without getting treatment. Meredith came to diagnose that he had a hernia. He’d be fine if she performed surgery soon. Only she delayed it because of the stupid VIP floor. The first patient on that floor was demanding that either a Grey or a Sloane remove her gallstones. She also demanded that it happened on her time table.

The woman was so entitled that she didn’t care in the slightest about a mass casualty event. Larry was showing more empathy and that man has been suffering from cardiac problems before his mistake. He kept skipping his physical because he couldn’t get free time. He was overworked on top of being underpaid. His mom had to call in a wellness check because she hadn’t heard from him in days. Then Larry learned that NTSB was sniffing around. He was being transported upstairs when it happened so he took a swift decline.

They had to open him up right on the elevator. They freaked out Catherine. She couldn’t take people on tour of the new VIP floor with blood all over the elevator. She had also been upset when she learned that Meredith had closed up the gallstones girl. She left it to an intern while she went back to the hernia case. It had gotten worse while she had been away. She had to rush the teenager into surgery. She found a built up in his stomach that might be cancerous. The kid was in foster care. He was a few months away from his eighteen birthday. And that’s when the city stopped paying for treatment.

The kid had a rough go of things. Amelia’s patient as well. They lost the pilot. She died on the operating table. It made Amelia reach out to Toni. Amelia had been prepared to fight for her. The two had a fight because Toni was considering going back to her at ex. Amelia then used that as an excuse to sleep with Cass and Toni found them together right as she was about to tell Amelia she chose her. The two reconnected tonight over their shared grief only there will be a next time. Blue also stopped by the hospital. He was getting French lessons and he noticed that his French tutor was having a stroke. He got her to the hospital in time for her to get treatment.

Luckily, Simone covered for him so that the higher ups never learned Blue had runs tests on her. Simone also found out she was pregnant and she doesn’t know who it belongs to. She slept with Bryant around the same time as Lucas. She was going to keep this one a secret for a while. Link had a secret of his own. His shoulder was acting up. He considered taking his wife’s old pain meds to get through it when Jo suddenly announced that she quit her job at the hospital. She was traumatized by the others opening up Larry. They saved Larry’s life. They also reminded her of her trauma.

Bailey soon realized she couldn’t juggle everything if she went back to school so she named Winston as her replacement – that will definitely restrict his relationship with Jules now that Ben knows too.

And Meredith was hating what the VIP floor cost her when it was revealed Dr. Norton was the new Chief of Surgery. Meredith could have been a part of the process and she chose to live in Boston. Now, she doesn’t get a say. Richard said as much and Meredith being Meredith she was bound to ignore him.

THE END!
