On tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Owen volunteered to work at Cascade Hill for the day. It was a rural hospital. It wasn’t as big or equipped as Grey Sloane. They needed every available hand and so Owen volunteered.
He tried to get Richard to join him as well. Only Richard was going to be out for the day. He got Teddy to help Owen in his place. They were joined by a first year and a second year.
They were all set. There was just one thing that Owen should’ve mentioned before they made it to Cascade Hill. Owen forgot to tell Teddy he’d been offered a job there. Teddy wasn’t just his boss. She was also his ex-wife and the mother of his kids.
If Owen takes the job, he might have to move the airstream. Or at least get a place closer to the new hospital. It would leave Teddy in the lurch. Teddy needed to know these things and it didn’t seem like Owen planned on telling her he was looking much less that he had been offered another job.
It’s funny because he nearly cost Teddy her own job. Owen seemed to have forgotten that as well. He was handing out meds for people to take their own lives. It was against the law and he got reported when someone attempted to use him in a potential murder plot.
How is it he’s getting job offers? Then again Lucas still has a job. He was prepared to detonate his life for Katie and she’s gone. Lucas kept trying to save her when there was no chance.
Katie was dying when they met. She had cancer. She found a clinical trial and it was working. Until it was stopped because the government refused to fund it. It was wrong on so many lives and its still happening. Bailey had another cancer patient. He was a single dad. He’s all his teenage son got. And the kid doesn’t realize that his father is dying.
Logan was indifferent. He didn’t want to take the road trip with his dad. He reluctantly will go and he wanted to make it as quick of a trip as possible. His father was supposed to be approved for a new surgery. It got turned down because it was still in the experimentation trial. The man was dying too.
He wanted to live long enough for his son not to need him and he couldn’t even get that. Blue wasn’t taking it well. He was on Bailey’s rotation that day. He saw firsthand the cruelty being done to these people and he wanted to lash out at everyone in Washington. It was Bailey who stopped him.
Bailey said that those people dedicated their whole lives to public service. They were making decisions because they were looking at the facts. Not the emotions like the doctors on the case. Bailey has to believe that none of these deaths are intentional. She reminded her resident to think of it the same way or else he won’t survive medicine.
The young man then spoke to Logan. Logan has been in and out of the hospital so many times with his dad that he didn’t think this last visit was serious. It took the doctor telling him that his dad has weeks to live to get Logan to realize that he needed time to say goodbye to his dad.
Lucas also got sent back to the hospital. He was supposed to help Richard inform people about prostate cancer and all he did was whine. Richard sent him away. He stayed behind to speak to his barber.
He told him that he had his prostate removed when he got cancer in the area. He convinced his barber to come in for a screening. Lucas meanwhile was still snapping at Simone. He told her to leave him alone after everything she did to help him. Simone then broke some rules while she was with Teddy and Owen. And it worked out.
The patient she worked on was going down the river with her boyfriend. They were capsized. June let go of Keaton’s hand to grab a branch and he called her selfish. Keaton also survived the capsize.
He broke up with June. Simone took her patient’s side. She told her that he was the selfish one if he couldn’t understand extinct. But Owen said he wasn’t going to take the job over there. He was just going to visit every month helping out. Teddy was so relieved. She was glad that Owen was staying where he was needed. At least for now.
Bailey might have to fire Dr. Kwon who was also known as Blue. He used the experimental treatment on the patient against what the FDA decided. He might’ve saved the man’s life. Or kill him quicker. It still left Bailey in the position to report him and this could cost him his whole career.
Lucas then ended up sleeping first year Dr. Dani Spencer. Honestly, she could do better and it’s a little sad she doesn’t see it yet.
And Winston broke up with Iris the nurse so that he could truly pursue Jules.
THE END!
