In tonight’s Line Of Fire episode, somehow someone got a bomb onto a plane. The protocols have been changed frequently since 9/11. There were also Air Marhsalls onboard most flights. Jane thought it was safe to personally transport a hacker. His name is Elliott Bloom. He kept escaping from the Marshalls.
Jane figured if she wanted something done right that she had to do it herself. She boarded a flight right as the mass confusion developed. There was one guy who claimed to have brought a bomb onboard. There were several others who tried to disable their planes as well. And Jane’s flight found itself at a loss when a man hacked their plane.
It just wasn’t Bloom. Bloom was still handcuffed. It was a complete stranger who did this. He hacked the plane so that they were flying blind. It was a coordinated attack to destabilize the system.
Jane’s plane was flying blind. It couldn’t land without eyes on the ground. They didn’t have enough fuel to fly forever. They had at most two hours. It also seemed to target Jane’s flight in particular. There were six attacks in all. The others were all diversions. It was just Jane’s flight that the attacker wanted to actually bring down the plane.
Jane needed a hacker’s help. She unhandcuffed Bloom. She told him to help her regain access back to ground support. He got her signal to make a few calls. Jane was able to call the command center.
Her children were all involved. Mike wanted reports. Micah wanted to support everyone. Russ was there for the DOJ. Clare has been brought in by her new FBI pal. Clare spoke to her mom. She’s alright. She was told about the other attacks that now seemed like diversions. She was told her hers was the only real event. And she knew exactly who was behind it.
It had to be Bloom. Bloom has evaded authorities for so long that he has plenty of backup plans. The six men he used didn’t even know each other. Nor have they ever met each other.
There was one mastermind controlling them from a different location. He managed to exploit their vulnerabilities. It was Bloom and Bloom wouldn’t help them unless he gets a deal from the DOJ. He didn’t care that he committed acts of terrorism. He didn’t care what his partner in assisting him with all of this was doing down on the ground as long as he got away.
Jane quickly realized that partner was actually her partner on the flight – the Air Marshall. He was really Former Air Marshall Troy Boone. Boone lost his only child in a flight accident. He was now angry. He was so angry that he was let go from work so he wanted revenge and unfortunately has nothing to lose. Jane knew something was off when he kept trying to talk about her kids. She checked in with them to tell them she was alright. Boone became a little too invested in a complete stranger’s background. It was because Jane still had something he lost.
Jane still had a home. He regretted hurting her. He didn’t want to hurt her kids or take pleasure in their pain. He was doing this to get back at the Marshalls, the airline, and at perps like Bloom. He really was willing to jump on anything as long as he got to spread the suffering. Bloom met him in a chatroom. He regretted it when he realized he could die or worse get entangled with an actual terrorist. And not just a hacktivist.
Jane got every bit of background information on Boone first before she made her move. She then tried to surprise him and turbulence messed that up. Jane soon realized that the only way to get him to drop his weapon was by confessing her own story. She told him about her family. The son she buried. The children she pushed away. The husband that still loved her. Jane became vulnerable for once. It worked on Boone. He dropped his gun. He allowed the hacker to undo the damage. And they safely landed.
All the flights safely landed. Down on the ground, Mike found out about the actual shooter being a friend of President Barnes. They just never got to ask the suspect why he shot at Barnes. He was later found dead. He had fought someone before his death. The chances are he was killed. It turns out that attempt on the president’s life happened at the perfect time. It happened right as Barnes was about to lose reelection. The shooting helped get his numbers back up. He stayed president for four years. And so the rot ran deep.
Antosca bankrolled the president’s campaign. He was in it for a return investment. The Secret Service were also in on it. Everyone besides Mike that is. Mike was given a choice by a man he helped train. Either destroy everything or keep his mouth shut. The status quo was currently doing a lot of good.
And Jack lured Wallace into a trap as a warning – his family can’t know he’s alive and that’s why he didn’t kill her tonight when he could’ve.
THE END!
