Gibbs got drunk. He then did something very stupid. He drove to Las Vegas where he married Diane. Diane was amazing. She was never the problem. The problem was always Gibbs. Gibbs wasn’t ready to move on. He was still grieving his first wife. He never meant to take a second wife. Diane was regretting it too. They haven’t said “I Love You” to each other yet. He hasn’t met her dad. He never got permission and Diane was really concerned about that. She was the first to bring up annulling it. They were going to do so the moment they found their clothes when Gibbs got paged to go into work.
Gibbs was paged to come in. There was a bombing not that far from the army base. It was believed to be terrorism. Franks and his team got called in. They had to work with FBI Special Agent Joey Swanson. She was taking over from Oakley. Oakley got the promotion back to DC. It was supposed to go to Vera. It went to somebody else because Wheeler made sure it did. Wheeler was afraid of his growing relationship with Oakley. He knew Mary Jo had found out about it. He was worried others would as well. He sent Oakley as far away as he could just to cover up the secret.
Oakley was quickly replaced by Joey Swanson. Someone that Franks thought was a man until it was revealed to be a woman. Her full name was Josephine. She was a lot more of a control freak than Oakley was. She had to control everything. This included the knob to rewind the security tapes. It annoyed Franks within minutes of meeting her. He then annoyed her when he rushed out of there because he recognized their bomber. The bomber was Stanley Turner. He was staying at the illegal commune run by Abe Pruitt.
Franks then took off to the commune with backup. FBI were forced to follow. Swanson didn’t like that at all. Franks then pushed his way onto the commune and he demanded to know where his brother. Stanley was a secondary concern. He wanted to know if his brother was alright and then if his brother played any part in the bombing. Mason swears he didn’t know about it. He said he last saw Stanley the day before. He’s been with the horses all night. Franks believed him and maybe he should’ve.
The FBI caught up with them. They detained everyone to question. This meant Mason as well. They found Stanley’s manifesto in his room and they knew how he created the bomb. He created it with special fuel that he had at his foster parents’ house. His foster parents were good to him. They still called the commune to check up on him. His foster father was from Texas and so when he stole the fuel needed in the bomb – he used Mason as a distraction. Mason didn’t know he was a distraction or at least that’s what he’s claiming.
Mason believes he was used. Franks believes he was used. The FBI were holding onto him until they fully cleared him. Franks also learned from the foster parents that Stanley had enough gasoline for a second bomb. The authorities who was next. They read Stanley’s manifesto. They didn’t see anything in it. Vera noticed that something had been erased. She was able to get it back. It was a writing that’s been on the wall of the courthouse. See, when the bomb went off at the movie theater nearby, the whole courthouse was cleared.
They were forced out of all exits. This included the ones that weren’t cleared by security. Stanley used that to sneak into the courthouse and plant a bomb. It turns out the man that runs the commune was getting a divorce. A divorce that’s dragged out for years. His wife’s name is Tracey. Tracey accused Abe Pruitt of running a cult. She said he was hiding assets. He wanted her to have nothing and unfortunately she was entitled to half. Meaning the Range where the commune lived was also up for grabs.
They went back to the Range. They searched it after some photo indicated they put fake flowers where the real ones used to be. The fake flowers hid an underground bunker. Stanley’s body was found there. The bombing at the courthouse never happened because the team stopped it in time. They had sights on Stanley and lost him in the crowd. Gibbs was sluggish. He was still hungover. Its why he was chained to a desk for most of everything. Gibbs was even mocked by Flaco who tried to get Lala to do his bidding. And so he reached a new low.
One that left him primed to question Pruitt. Kowalski felt he was ready. He convinced Franks he was ready. Franks was so busy worried about his brother that he destroyed any working relationship he could have had with Swason. So, the probie got his chance at interrogating Pruitt. He talked to him. He admitted he drunkenly got married in Vegas and that’s why he knew it was illegal to marry two people at the same time. Pruitt married a second wife at the ranch. They got him on bigamy. They just couldn’t get him from trying to bomb the courthouse to get out of paying Tracey.
It an Al Capone maneuver. It was a huge win for Gibbs. He returned to his place to find Diane had made dinner and he convinced her to stay married. He wasn’t an annulment guy he said. They finally told each other “I love you”. They meant, but as time will tell, they weren’t ready for marriage. They didn’t love each other enough for that.
Mason meanwhile was heading to Nevada to break in some wild horses.
And Lala decided to celebrate Gibb’s sudden marriage by sleeping with one of Flaco’s guys.
