In tonight’s Fire Country, Wes Fox has been down this road before. He started out as an illegal weed grower. H went to jail for it. More than once! It’s why his daughter gave him rules when she let him move in with her. She told him that he had to go legit. She refused to have him in her life any other way.

She already has a drug addict for her daughter and she didn’t want a criminal for a father. It was too much to handle at once. She talked to her dad about it. Wes agreed to do the paperwork. And then the paperwork was too much trouble.

There’s so many loops to jump through if someone wants to legally sell weed in the state. It was legal in California, but only to those who have a working license to do so. Wes hated that he could still be turned down even if he hasn’t been growing for over twenty years. He thought that was too much risk.

He also had people whispering in his ears that he should be leading the new generation. It made him think that he could return to the old days. He went back into illegal growing. He tried to turn the other illegal growers into a community and those days are gone.

Some within the organization have questioned his leadership. They felt he was too old to lead. They think the hot heads should take over and Wes revealed the reason he’s still doing this was because he knew what worked. What didn’t. Wes was going to collect some weed to sell from his buddy Dale when he found Dale gone.

Dale’s son beaten up. He was with another guy so he had his friend stay with the son while he drove the drugs away. The person he left behind did as told by calling the cops.

Dale’s son Tommy was taken to a hospital. Mickey and deputies arrived quickly on the scene. They found out that Dale never left the farm. They found him tied up and dying.

His attacker posted a sign around his neck saying he should’ve sold. Earlier in the year, Mickey had heard about people buying up land. They were aggressive. They threatened the ranchers and that was no problem because the ranchers were mostly peaceful. Going after someone like Dale was problematic. He was a Prince in Deadwater. He has lots of land and was too tough to tackle normally.

Whoever was threatening the growers were doing so with everyone in the Emerald Triangle. Wes likes to say the land in their area was the best land to grow anything.

He wasn’t the only one to believe that. Dale wasn’t like the others when he turned down the offer to sell his land. He toyed with the buyer at first. He kept raising the price knowing he would never sell and so that ticked off the wrong person. This same person who offers to buy was never seen. He never met with anyone. He just stayed on the phone until a deal was made or not.

It couldn’t be the Bulgarians. They showed their faces. They met with people. Whoever was behind the attack was different in the sense they didn’t want anyone knowing that they were buying land or what they wanted to do with it. They stay hidden by an LLC. Mickey decided to draw them out into the open.

She and Boone held a police auction where they sold the land they seized after an arrest. They knew someone from the LLC would buy the land and bid the highest. They weren’t wrong. Wes acted as a counterpoint constantly raising the price until it eventually sold for two million.

Unfortunately, the guy at the bidder was just a lawyer. He doesn’t even know his employer is. Mickey informed them that the person behind Emerald Triangle LLC was guilty of attempted murder and that was enough to spook the lawyer. He demanded a meeting. He got another foot soldier.

Gina worked as an informant to get close enough to record the two men speaking about Dale. The lawyer didn’t know who hired him or what they were involved. He wanted out and his life was threatened. He was told he’d better keep making deals or he’d end up just like the grower.

Both men were arrested. They weren’t talking and they got a lead that Dale’s car had been spotted. Wes drove off in the car because it best hid Dale’s weed. He was still driving with money they got from the sale. The sale that Tanner the hothead almost ruined. Hence Wes made sure he went alone.

He was alone with three million dollars. He didn’t want his daughter or granddaughter finding out he was still illegally growing. Not after his license finally came through. He’s been approved to sell. He just doesn’t want to.

It was Skye’s birthday soon. Her mom wanted to do a scrapbook for her until Skye’s aunt helped her rent a fancy loft in the rich neighborhood.

Wes also came up with a cool birthday present, but he missed most of the party because he was running from the law and he lost the money he hid from the sale. Wes was facing a serious problem and there’s no telling if he can fix it. He later gave Skye a guitar. And he heard from his daughter the sheriff that they have the three million dollars.

THE END!
