The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Jamey Giddens was recently named the show’s new co-head writer along with Dan O’Connor, but that’s not the only thing he’s got in the works.
Jamey Giddens confirmed he’s “been booked and busy in 2026” and explained how he’s also written an All My Children movie with Ron Carlivati (former Head Writer for One Life to Live, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives).
Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) and Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Vaughan) have been trying to bring back AMC in some form for a while now through their production company.
The real-life couple met while working on All My Children years ago, so they spoke to The L.A. Times about their goal of getting two AMC movies on Lifetime.
Giddens and Carlivati were tapped to write the first flick while Leo Richardson was given the task of penning the sequel.
If all goes well, fans will be able to see what characters like Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), Dr. Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue) are up to in the present day.
You might be wondering how Giddens could possibly manage to fit this into his schedule now that he’s co-head writing at Y&R.
Giddens faced questions about that from fans on social media, so he addressed how all this came together.
“We turned in our All My Children script months ago. My sole focus as of this past Monday, is Genoa City, Wisconsin!” Giddens said on X (formerly known as Twitter) before adding a winking emoji.
That offers confirmation that Giddens and O’Connor’s first day writing at Y&R was August 3.
Now that O’Connor and Giddens are officially on the job, we’re a step closer to seeing their material hit the screen.
Of course, All My Children fans are excited about these Lifetime movies that are being developed.
Giddens spoke on his Instagram account about the AMC opportunity coming before his ”life-changing offer to co-head write” at Y&R, so he was done writing the movie long before he started his newest gig.
In other words, there’s no need to worry about Giddens not being focused on the task at hand.
It’s clear that Giddens is all in when it comes to creating some juicy stories for all your favorite Y&R characters.
After receiving well wishes and a warm welcome to Genoa City, Giddens shared his gratitude on X and noted that it was “such a lovely place to reside.”
