The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Devon Winters’ (Bryton James) actions could lead to major trouble for an already fragile Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes).
Devon doesn’t think a cushy psychiatric facility stint is enough for Dominic Winters’ (Ethan Ray Clark) kidnapper, so he recently decided to take matters into his own hands.
It was revealed in Y&R’s April 15 episode that Devon filed a petition to have Mariah’s plea agreement reviewed.
Since Devon and Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) weren’t properly consulted as the victims in this case, Devon felt the need to do something.
Of course, Abby isn’t happy about Devon making such a bold move without telling her, especially since she isn’t feeling as vengeful toward Mariah.
It seems like Devon is letting his anger cloud his judgment instead of trying to understand that Mariah suffered a severe mental break.
We’re talking about Devon’s longtime friend, former flame and the woman who helped bring Dominic into the world.
Devon’s treating Mariah like a stranger who actively wanted to harm Dominic, but she clearly wasn’t in her right mind thanks to all those Ian Ward (Ray Wise) hallucinations.
There’s even a chance “Ian” could make more visits to Mariah if she suffers a mental health setback over Devon’s prison push.
Mariah may get the news about her plea deal possibly being undone and decide it was a mistake to accept it to begin with.
Devon’s attitude and actions could push Mariah back into a hopeless pit of despair, so “Ian” might pop up to tell Mariah what a disappointment she is.
“Ian” might tell Mariah she’s a failure and act like she’d be better off rotting away in prison alone.
Since Mariah’s Dom kidnapping plot didn’t work out, she might imagine even “Ian” washing his hands of her.
Whatever the case, part of Devon’s rage appears to stem from not being able to protect Dominic the day he was snatched.
Devon wasn’t outside with Dominic and Abby when it happened, so he may blame himself on some level.’
If Devon can cool off and work through his feelings, maybe he’ll start to see Abby’s perspective and determine that prison really isn’t the right place for Mariah.
