The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Thursday, April 23, reveals that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) will back Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) into a corner while Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) steps up to help Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) with a family crisis.
After Cane overhears Lily on the phone with Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore), he’ll realize Malcolm is sick and seek details.
Lily will try to turn Cane away at first, but he’ll push her to admit Malcolm needs all the help he can get right now.
Lily will explain Malcolm’s aplastic anemia situation and how he needs a bone marrow donation, but she’ll also admit she can’t be a donor due to her past cancer treatments.
Since Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) and the twins aren’t a match either, Lily will worry about how long it’s going to take to find a match through the donor registry.
Cane will know it’s a longshot, but he’ll volunteer to get tested and leave Lily touched over the gesture.
At Crimson Lights, Holden will talk to Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) about his complicated feelings about his bio dad and how he already feels like he’s letting Malcolm down.
Claire will assure Holden that it’s not his fault that he isn’t a match.
Holden will also admit to buying a couple baseball gloves since he always wanted to play catch with his father growing up.
Although Holden will seem a little embarrassed over his purchase, Claire will reassure him.
Claire will also agree to help distract Holden from all the drama over lunch, so they’ll head to Society and bump into Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) there.
Stephanie will exchange introductions with Claire and hear that she found out the truth about her bio parents later in life as well.
Although Stephanie will initially quiz Claire about her experience, she’ll back off after deciding she’s being too intrusive.
Claire will hope Holden has a chance to get to know Malcolm and will have a pleasant interaction with Stephanie, who’ll realize this is the same girl Holden mentioned taking to Los Angeles.
In the end, Stephanie will admit she wishes Holden would stop being so charming and settle down with one woman.
That’ll lead to Holden speaking to Claire alone about his mom trying to marry him off his entire life.
Claire will acknowledge that she wasn’t ready for the picket fence that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) wanted.
Holden and Claire will agree about the importance of timing and finding the right person.
Once Lily summons Stephanie to the park café, she’ll let her know Cane has offered to get tested as a possible bone marrow donor.
Stephanie will set it up with the lab and urge Lily to see how much Cane still cares about her.
In Las Vegas, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will face some inner turmoil in the bathroom as he struggles with his drug addiction.
Next on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will leave Sharon a voicemail alerting her to the fact that Matt took his phone along with Nick’s, but he won’t be able to reach her.
Once Riza Thomson (Tina Casciani) shows up looking for the latest news, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will accuse her of lying.
Adam and Nick will also suspect Riza came to spy on them for Matt.
Riza will eventually point out that if she is still working with Matt, she’ll need an incentive to go against him and put herself at risk.
After Riza hints about wanting a new name and life outside of Vegas, Adam will insist they can help with that.
Nick will agree that Riza can name her price and will promise that she’ll be protected.
Meanwhile, Sharon will be driving in a car with Noah, who’ll share the directions “Nick” gave them via text.
Noah will get a bad feeling about this whole setup since there’ll be no cell service and they won’t be able to actually speak with Nick.
Sharon and Noah will fret over Adam and Nick seemingly taking matters into their own hands regarding Matt.
That’ll bring some concerns about the potential legal consequences for Nick and Adam.
Once Noah and Sharon pull up at an abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Vegas, Sharon will get the same bad vibe Noah’s been getting.
Before Sharon and Noah can settle on whether they’ll go inside or not, Matt will plop himself in the backseat and give them a “welcome to hell” greeting.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Matt will make things dangerous once again, so stay tuned.
