The Young and the Restless Wednesday, September 9 Recap: Adam’s Trauma, Diane’s Worst Fear, Kyle’s Surprise

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Wednesday, September 9, reveals that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will wrestle with the past.

Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) will also hear some alarm bells going off in her head.

Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will hear an unexpected announcement as well, so here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to.

At the athletic club, Adam will get off the phone with a therapeutic boarding school in Colorado that has a great baseball program.

It turns out Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) contacted them on his own to see about getting a spot there.

Adam will fill Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) in, but she’ll have some concerns about disrupting Connor’s routine.

Chelsea will also worry about Connor running away from them, but Adam will think their son is just being ambitious.

The school will indeed be willing to hold a spot for Connor, but they’ll expect an answer by the end of the day.

Adam will ultimately assure Chelsea that they’ll talk things over with Connor and make sure they all agree on what’s right for their family.

When Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) comes along, she’ll mention her recent baby scare and promise everything is fine.

Sally will also tell Adam and Chelsea about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) agreeing to back off Chancellor.

Once Billy shows up to meet Sally, he’ll encounter Adam along with Chelsea.

Adam will push Billy’s buttons over the Chancellor issue, so Billy will push back a bit before joining Sally.

Sally will scold Billy for always looking for a fight and will hope that he’ll try to avoid taking the bait next time.

After Sally explains Audra Charles’ (Zuleyka Silver) potential new deal with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Billy will be pleased about it.

The conversation will eventually shift to the brand-new company that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) offered Billy, but he won’t feel like Jack can be trusted.

As for Adam, he’ll flash back to Sally lashing out at him after he chose her life over their baby girl’s.

Chelsea will sense that Adam’s struggling over that past baby loss and will offer some support while steering him away from all the Billy conflict.

At Society, Victoria will get Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) to confirm she’s on board with running Vibrante.

Victoria will also think Nikki is right about nixing the social media rivalry, so she’ll go with Nikki to break the news to Kyle in person.

At Jabot, Kyle will try to convince Jack and Diane Jenkins that they can stick it to Victor if Vibrante fails right out of the gate.

When Kyle mentions Victoria offering the CEO spot to Nikki, Jack will approve.

Diane will wonder whose side Jack is on here and will bicker with her husband about whether Nikki taking over is a good thing.

Diane will put Kyle on the spot by asking whether he’d rather go head-to-head with Nikki or Victoria.

Kyle will act like he’s fine either way and will continue to play up the social media battle, but Nikki and Victoria will insist that’s off when they arrive.

Kyle will act like it’s good that Victoria has decided not to exploit Jabot and just fail on her own.

There’ll be some bickering before Kyle takes off, which will lead to him pausing by the elevator to recall sizzling with Victoria at the Riverbank Motel.

As for Nikki, she’ll talk to Jack and Diane about maybe being able to mitigate things or even end the Newman-Abbott feud.

Diane will mock Nikki for thinking she can just wave her hand and convince Victor to drop his grudge.

Nikki will at least hope to keep the focus on cosmetics and will accept Jack’s offer to fill her in on advancements in the industry.

Once Nikki and Victoria exit, Diane will voice concerns about this whole thing.

Diane will question why Victor is even allowing it and will worry he could see this as the final battle in the winner-takes-all war.

At the rehab clinic, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will reprimand Nick for trying to play rescuer and putting his own freedom on the line for Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow).

Michael will wonder if this is more than just Nick’s usual heroism, but he’ll back off the question in the end.

Nick will be relieved to know Marie was released and won’t be facing any charges.

That said, Nick will still fret over Marie not having the support she needs if she doesn’t come back to rehab.

As Nick opens up during a group chat, he’ll admit he’s actually making progress and will get advice from the staff to focus on that.

Only Marie can decide what’s next for her.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Marie could be headed for worse trouble, so stay tuned.
