Ben Pateras was last seen closing up the family’s restaurant. His parents reported his disappearance. They were told the police couldn’t do anything for days because Ben was eighteen. He was newly turned eighteen. It was a significant difference because Ben was still very much a kid. Some kid who didn’t think everything through just yet. He was very big into social justice. His father didn’t feel like he wanted to work in the family restaurant forever. His mother on the other hand wanted to keep him close. The kid was itching to get away and so they were left with questions when he suddenly disappeared.

Ben never dropped off that day’s takings at the bank. He could’ve disappeared with the money or had gotten robbed. Colter Shaw was barely on the case a day when he learned it might’ve been the latter. He spoke with the homeless woman that lived near their back alley. She saw Ben get forced into a car by a dark man with a distinctive car. Ben’s father recognized the car when he heard about it. It belonged to Ellis Brawner. He used to work at the restaurant before he was fired for stealing from the till.

Now, Brawner has been in frequent contact with Ben all the way up to disappearance. The communication stopped because his Brawner ditched the phone when he abducted the kid. Or so Colter thought at first. He broke into Brawner’s apartment. He found out that Brawner was in the business of fake IDs and passports. Brawner also ran when he saw a stranger in his apartment but he wasn’t a kidnapper or a killer. He was in business with Ben. He admitted as much when Colter caught him.

They worked together making those fake stuff. Brawner didn’t even steal from the restaurant. He noticed that Ben dropped some bills one day and he picked it up right as Mr. Pateras walked in. The man just assumed he was a thief. It didn’t matter to Brawner because Ben was a good friend. He also knew that Ben must be in some kind of trouble when he asked to buy a car off him. It wasn’t his prized vehicle. It was a junker that Ben needed to stay hidden. He ran off with his family’s money and that left the question of why.

Brawner thought whatever trouble Ben found himself in – it involved a girl. Colter went for looking for the junker hoping it would point to Ben’s location and instead he found the car at a car lot with a body in the trunk. It was some girl. It could be the girl that Ben was willing to get in trouble for. Colter called 911. He got Detective Blake and she told him that the girl was identified as Nadia Fedosh. She was a Romanian National who overstayed her visa. Her information was found on Ben’s laptop that Colter got from Brawner.

Fedosh’s picture was taken less than five miles from where her body was found. Colter didn’t think Ben killed her. He thinks that her killer was acting with someone and that used her to lure out Ben. Ben makes some really great fakes. It would bound to catch attention from horrible people. Especially once they realize they could use Ben to do their bidding. Fedosh wasn’t just killed by these people. They trafficked her as well as other girls from that house that took the photo. Ben accidentally got involved in a human trafficking ring.

It was all because of a girl. Not Fedosh. She was killed days ago. It was Kendall that Ben tried to save. He went to the rescue her and she got away. He didn’t. He was taken hostage by the same people now looking for her. Ben made her a fake passport because without it she would’ve been stuck. Kendall was friends with Fedosh. They shared a room at the cam house. These girls were lured to the States with promises of becoming a model and their real passports gets taken away the moment they land. They’re forced into sex work with no avenues of leaving.

If they tried to leave, they either get killed or deported for overstaying their visa. But the trafficking ring continues on no matter the situation. Kendall reached out to ben after her friend was killed and he tried to free her. They took him. They tortured him. He eventually told them his password to his burner phone. They found the messages from Kendall. They knew where she was hiding and were going to kill her. They were going to kill Ben as well when Colter stopped them. Colter found the head of security at the cam house.

He tortured him until he found out who took Ben. It was a sibling duo behind this ring. Their names are Eliza and Nico Watts. They were questioned in several disappearances of missing young women. No charges have stuck even as the whole world knew they were killing these girls. Ben made the fake passport for Fedosh first because she had been there longer. She didn’t have enough time to stay. They were too late. Ben still told Colter where Kendall would be hiding because she had nowhere else to go.

Colter was later forced to kill Nico. His sister wasn’t so big and bad without him. She gave herself up. Kendall was finally freed. She left with Ben and Ben’s parents agreed she could stay with them while she gets back on her feet.

And Reenie had a potential new job that seemed very suspicious. It’s never good when they ask her to sign an NDA before talking to witnesses or that the witnesses turned out be dead.

The End
