These are the first pictures from the big screen adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes novels. In his bowler hat and smoking jacket Robert Downey Jr has stepped back in time and into the role of the popular detective. Guy Ritchie, who directs the movie, joined Downey on location in London today for the first day of filming. I wonder how Robert will do in this role – I don’t really see him as Sherlock Holmes but people are saying his British accent for the move "is spot on". Jude Law plays his side kick Dr. Watson. Either way Robert is a great actor and I am sure he will do a good job!
Robert Downey Jr. looks more like Charlie Chaplin than Sherlock Holmes.
I completely agree! I was thinking the same thing I love Robert Downey Jr. but I am not sure he is going to be able to do Sherlock Holmes – Sherlock Holmes was dour and understated the man of few words, while Robert is an extravert. Either way I will go and see it ;-)

well im pretty sure it wasnt his idea to wear the bowler hat i am pretty sure he didnt want to wear a hat at all but guy suggested that it would be better for him to wear the bowler either way i dont really care what he wears hes always gunna be good looking and hes such a talented actor and he made such a come back in 2008 with iron man and tropic thunder i am absolutley stoked to see this movie!
i was a hard sell on downey as iron man, yet he was beyond great. so that being said he’s a talent that deserves to play roles we may feel are out of his zone. looking foward to this one.
