Tom Waits’ song "On The Road To Peace" is nothing but an anti-Israel piece of propaganda. I call it hate literature. The disingenuous "On The Road To Peace" attempts to equate the Hamas terrosist war against Israeli Jews with Israel’s simple and legitimate right to existence – yes the song is designed to portray Hamas suicide bombing attacks on the Israeli civilian population as morally equivalent to IDF counter-terrorist activity! This is like equating the activity of the police armed robbery squad with the murderous behaviour of the armed robbers.
But the most galling section of the piece of anti-Jewish/anti/Israeli propaganda comes when Waits asks the question "why are we arming the Israeli army with guns and tanks and bullets" after stating that it is "the fundamentalist killing on both sides" that is preventing peace. Imagine the ignorance and startling gall of Waits to claim that the activity of the Israeli military is fundamentalist killing? Does this fool not know that it is the stated goal of Hamas and their backers Iran and Syria to destroy Israel and kill every Jew? In what absurd lexicon of stupidity does self-defence become fundamentalist killing? Just to complete the record for any misguided people out there who might actually credit Waits with any legitimacy, we help arm the Israeli Army so that they can protect a civilian population who wishes and attempts to live in peace and co-operation from being destroyed and murdered by their neighbors – that is why we arm the Israelis.
