11 Top Fashion Designer's Sketch Katniss's 'Fire Dress' From 'The Hunger Games'

I’m pretty sure everyone out there is absolutely stoked for The Hunger Games, which will hit the big screens this March. For those of you who’ve read the book, you know that our lovely–but fierce and deadly–Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) dons a “fire dress” at a welcome ceremony before the games actually begin.

That’s a special dress, a costume that the production’s costume designers must get right to please the fans. That scene in which the dress is worn is such a pivotal moment to not only the plot, but in Katniss’s development as a character. It’s going to be a hard task to pull off, especially because the image of the dress itself is open to so many interpretations . . . but fans will know the right dress when they see it.

InStyle got together 11 designers to whip-up a few sketches that depict what they think the dress should look like. Now, as far as I know (and please someone correct me if I’m wrong) none of these designers have been employed to actually make the dress. Christian Siriano and Rachel Roy were but a few of the big fashion names who took part in the challenge.
