Angelina Jolie‘s longtime partner Brad Pitt shares the cover of New York Magazine with Jonah Hill. Brad talks to the magazine about his efforts to get MoneyBall made. The film was plagued with many problems from Sony pulling the plug to Steven Soderbergh leaving. The only thing that kept the film alive was Brad Pitt’s support. Brad said: “I just couldn’t let it go” Moneyball took nearly a decade, three directors, three writers, an almost complete recasting, and a public collapse before it got made.
Brad came on board in 2007 to play Beane and quickly “became obsessed” as well. “I saw it as a story about justice,” he says. “How is a team with a $40 million payroll going to compete with a team with a $140 million payroll and another $100 million in reserves? Any talent they grow is going to get poached by the rich teams. That became really interesting to me.”
The film will finally hit theatres September 23, 2011. There is a lot of Oscar buzz about Brad Pitt, I think he is due to win! What do you think? Will you go see the movie? I know I will!
