Justin Bieber's $100,000 Christmas Gift

Justin Bieber put his money where his mouth was, so to speak, as he generously donated $100,000 to assist a school attended primarily by low-income families and homeless children. Justin grew up dirt poor himself – raised by a single mom who he admitted needed to go to a food bank once. Justin was at the Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas where he not only dropped off his $100,000 check but also performed a free concert. Superstore Target also donated an additional $100,000 in honour of the cause.

Justin delighted the kids by performing a private concert for them. The entire event was filmed to be shown on the Ellen Degeneres Show and everyone got to hear Justin sing acoustical renditions of Christmas songs. One teen, 17 year-old Kiersten Umberger, commented that she nearly broke down in tears when she saw Justin saying: ‘It was the best moment of my life.’

Justin grew up in a public housing basement apartment and has previously said: “That place was dirty. We had mousetraps everywhere, because there were mouses, uh, mice, in the house. I didn’t have a real bed. I slept on a blue pullout couch in my room. We didn’t have anything in the fridge, ever, except maybe lunch meat for school and Kraft macaroni and cheese.”

The donated funds will be used to support the school so that it can remain open – as well as assist in paying family bills and providing children with clothes and heavily subsidized meals.
