Kim Kardashian Sues Old Navy Because They Have A Look Alike Model

Kim Kardashian is suing Old Navy and its parent company, The Gap Inc., because they just happen to be using a model that looks like her. Really, Kim? You’re going to go there? Basically, Kim wants the company to stop using the model to advertise their clothes.

She says the ads are violating her publicity rights because the woman looks like her. Kardashian’s lawsuit claims that consumers may be “confused” by the ads and the model’s endorsements.

Direct statement from the lawsuit: [Kardashian] has invested substantial time, energy, finances and entrepreneurial effort in developing her considerable professional and commercial achievements and success, as well as in developing her popularity, fame, and prominence in the public eye.

The case also cites other things that “prove” her fame, including the fact that she has a gazillion Twitter followers — which we all know is something that holds great value in a court of law. *sigh*

Now, I’m not a lawyer, but I find this lawsuit to be pretty ridiculous. I simply can’t see it going anywhere. Are their any CDL readers out there with law degrees that would like to help us out?
