There’s a whirling green tornado. A child cries and a man tells his wife to stick to the road. She finds a baby that her husband thinks the cyclone dropped. The woman says the baby is beautiful. A branch cracks and almost falls on them but the baby waves her hand magically and saves them. Her husband says the baby did it but the woman says it was the wind. She wants to keep the baby but her husband is spooked. She insists they keep her and name her Zelena. They get back on the road toward the glowing city of Oz.

In Storybrooke, the townfolk gather around a grave as the coffin is layered. They are assembled to bid farewell to Neil. Everyone is sad. Regina watches Henry with concern. Hook shovels some dirt onto the grave, missing the young boy he raised at one point. David goes next then Mary. Each takes a turn to shovel in a little dirt. Belle, then Henry who releases the dirt slowly. Emma fingers the necklace Neil gave her then goes to take her turn.

Gold is in mental anguish in his cage. Zelena comes to mock his sadness over the loss of his son. She asks if he was worth it and he says every bit. He says Neil was family – something she knows nothing about.

Back in Oz, we see a young Zelena shaving her father. She nicks him and uses magic to clean up but he yells at her and calls her wicked. She tells him it would be better if he would let her learn to control it and he says everyone would think she’s a freak. He tells her that she’s not his daughter and reveals that they found her on the side of the road and that she’s wicked. He blames her for his drunkenness. He tells her to make him breakfast and she tells him she’s going to the one person who can help her find a family – the Wizard of Oz.

Emma throws darts when Hook comes up and tells her to grieve in a better way and offers her rum. She tells him that Zelena will pay and he says revenge won’t help her. He encourages her to talk to Henry but she says he thinks he abandoned them. Hook offers to tell Henry what Neil was like as a boy and she’s touched and agrees. He promises to take Henry and keep him safe while they talk.

Robin comes in and Tink points out to Regina that he has the tattoo and that he’s her soul mate. She shushes her as Robin comes over to chat with them. Regina tells him she doesn’t want a drink and he excuses himself. Tink tells her she needs to open herself up to love so maybe this time it will turn out better. Regina bristles and Tink stomps away.

Zelena comes in with the Dark One’s dagger in hand and takes claim for Neil’s death. Snow holds Emma back and Zelena tells them that anyone that interferes will face the Dark One. She tells them she’s not there for Snow’s baby, but her own little sister.

She tells everyone that Regina is her half-sister but Regina doesn’t believe it. She says she has brought her a gift to help her learn the truth and then to meet her on Main Street at sundown so she can destroy her. Regina tells her it’s not the wild West and Zelena says it’s the wicked West. She tells everyone to be there to see Regina lose. After some more trash talk, Zelena flounces out.

Hook brings Henry down to the waterfront and he thinks Emma pawned her off on him but Hook says he asked to speak to him because he knew his Dad. He invites him on his ship – it looks like a fishing boat, not a pirate ship.

Regina tells them her mother never told her about a love child. The others say that her mom lied and then they wonder if she pissed Zelena off over the year they all lost. Regina leaves and says she has to go find out what Zenela thinks she did to her.

In Oz, Zelena goes to see the wizard. She hears a voice that says he was expecting her. He tells her he’s the Great Oz and knows she wants to find her family. He says he will show her but it won’t be easy. A portal opens beneath her feet and she sees Cora laying her down. He tells her that she abandoned her because she couldn’t make her a royal. Then she sees Regina and he says that’s her sister and that Regina fulfilled what she wanted.

We see Gold and Oz tells her that he was a very powerful wizard. He says that Gold is teaching her but Regina can’t grasp it. Zelena says she wants Gold to teach her instead and asks for his help. He gives her silver slippers that he says will take her where she wants to go. In exchange he says she has to bring him something of Rumple’s.

She clicks her heels and is transported into someone’s bed chamber. She pokes around and then conjures something. Gold sees her do it and is surprised that she’s not Regina. She explains that she’s Cora’s other daughter – her first born. He says it’s not possible and that they’ll see about it. He tests her and the substance comes up green. He says it’s a day of surprised indeed.

Mary asks Regina if she thinks Zelena is telling the truth and she finds a letter that confirms that Zelena is her sister. She doesn’t tell them anything else and that it’s her fight and she’ll handle it. Emma and Mary wonder what the hell was in the letter.

David, Tink and the others try to figure out how to block off the street to keep people safe. Emma says that they have to help Regina even if she doesn’t want their help. They wonder if they can get the dagger away from Zelena and Belle wonders if she can get through to Gold without it. Robin finds Regina in the woods and says he was patrolling the woods to protect from flying monkeys.

He asks how she’s holding up and then asks what’s in the letter. He has it in his hand and tells her he’s a trained pickpocket. He asks if he can read it and she says she’s not stopping him. It’s a letter that says that Cora’s first born is the most powerful sorceress Gold has ever known. She says she thought the letter was about her but if it’s about Zelena then there’s no way she can win the fight.

Back in the day, Gold and Zelena talk and he says he never thought to meet her. He asks her to show him what she can do. He tells her to focus on what she feels and ties a scarf around her eyes. He tells her she needs to pass a test and tells her to find him. He appears and disappears calling out to her. He coaches her and tells her to pick one moment to focus on.

She rants that her sister got everything she ever wanted without trying or deserving it. Then she has him in hand and he tells her to find a happy memory to reign in the overflow of magic. He tells her he was also abandoned as a child and that he lived in a horrible hovel and that after they did a bunch of work, the people who took him in made meat pies and when he would taste them he would forget that his father didn’t want him. Zelena says her happy memory will be the moment he agreed to train her and he giggles wickedly.

The gang comes to the farm and once they confirm Zelena is gone, Belle rushes into the basement and Gold tells her she has to go. He says it’s not worth the risk and she reaches out to him and he tells her it’s not worth the risk. They touch hands and she tells him to believe in them. He tells her to run because Zelena is there. She tells them to carry on because she was enjoying the show. Belle runs out and Gold follows and says he has a message. If they interfere again, he will kill them.

On the shore, Henry asks Hook about his Dad and he gives him a sextant to look at the stars. Henry asks if it’s like a GPS and he says he taught Neil to navigate with one as a child. Henry asks if they’re the same age and Henry says he’s confusing him. He asks Hook to tell him something about Neil that will make him seem real. Hook tells him why he taught Neil to sail – he says Neil had just lost his father and he thought it would be good for him to have something to focus on. Hook tells him he has more in common with his Dad than he realizes. Henry looks up at the sky.

At the farmhouse, Zelena gets changed for her big confrontation with Regina. She puts on her green and her hat and heads out. Back at Gold’s castle, Zelena has made him meat pie. He tells her he can’t stay because he has to go see Regina. She wants him to stop working with Regina. She begs him not to go and she cries and rants. He asks what her father told her and she says he told her to put on a good face no matter what she’s feeling. He tells her that her insides are starting to show and she’s getting green with envy – literally.

The town is assembled but Regina isn’t there yet. David tells everyone to go home but Zelena says no one is going anywhere because the show needs an audience. She calls a short man a munchkin and tells him to get out of her way. She tells them if Regina isn’t there in five minutes she’s going to let the Dark One off his leash.

Zelena tells them time’s up and asks Gold who he wants to kill first. Emma says she’ll take her one since she’s the savior. Emma is thrown backwards but then Regina is there and tells her that black is her color. Regina acknowledges that she’s her sister but asks what she ever did to her. Zelema says she was born and Regina punches her in the face. Zelena tells her Gold can’t save her this time.

Back in the Enchanted Forest, Regina sits as a teen brushing her hair when Zelena attacks her sister and holds a knife to her neck. But there’s a green puff of smoke and Gold is there. He was testing her and says she failed and can’t cast the curse for him. He says the cost of the curse is giving up the one thing you love most and since she loves him most, she’s too dangerous. She asks what else she can do for him and he says he would like to go to a land without magic. She shows him her slippers and says they will take you anywhere and says he will only get them from her cold dead body. She tells him next time he will choose her. The green is eating up her skin and she clicks her heels and poofs away.

Regina mocks her for this being about jealousy. Zelena tells her she’s going to take everything from her and throws her sister onto a car. Regina conjures up a ball of fire and Zelena turns it to smoke and smashes Regina through the clock tower. She tells her that Gold taught her everything he taught Regina but she learned it better.

Regina tells her to go ahead and kill her and Zelena says that she needs her heart. She slams her hand into her chest and comes up empty. Regina tells her that her mom taught her never to bring her heart to a witch fight and she would know that if she hadn’t abandoned her. Zelena says she will get her heart and will take everything from her. She hops on her broom and soars out the hole in the tower she made with Regina’s body.

Emma, Mary and David run up and she tells them she survived for now. Regina explains that Zelena stole David’s courage with the sword spell and stole everyone’s memories of the past year and wants Regina’s heart. Regina says those sound like ingredients for a spell. They wonder what she’s making.

Regina comes into the woods and meets Robin. He asks if the plan worked and he hands her heart back over to her. She says she had to find the one thing she had that Zelena didn’t – her heartless mother. Regina looks at his tattoo and says she needs to learn to appreciate things that are right in front of her. She hands him her heart and asks him to keep it a little longer. He asks if she trusts a thief with her heart and she says you can’t steal what’s given.

Hook brings Henry back and he asks how the duel went. She says it’s a longer conversation. He tells her there’s lots of Neil in Henry and that he needs to know more.

Gold is in his cage and asks her where his meat pie is. Zelena tells her she’ll find Regina’s heart but Gold says whatever curse she’s making won’t change anything and says he would still choose Regina if he had to do it all over again. She tells him they will do it all over again. She says it’s not a curse but a second chance.

Zelena comes back to the Wizard and asks him to send her back in time to the moment her mother abandoned her. He laughs and tells her it’s impossible. He tells her even his power has limits. She pulls aside the curtain and drags the man out and demands to know who he is. He says his name is Walsh. He explains that it’s all an act and that he’s not a Wizard. He says he doesn’t have magic but he’s collected things that do have power. He tells her that what she seeks doesn’t exist because no magic is that strong.

She tells Walsh he’s of no use to her as he is – she needs someone who will do what she wants without question. She sees a picture of a monkey with wings and he realizes what she intends. He says she’s evil and she clarifies that she’s evil. She tells him to come along because they have work to do. She kicks the portal and sees Gold with Regina and him telling her she’s the best student he’s ever had. Her skin turns completely green as she stares down at them and promises that she is going to make sure Regina is never born.
