The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Jason Thompson Is New Billy Abbott - Leaving ‘GH’ For ‘Y&R’

“The Young And The Restless’”(Y&R) spoilers are confirming that Jason Thompson has been cast as Billy Abbott – in place of Burgess Jenkins.

Jenkins confirmed last month that he was leaving “Y&R” – and rumors have been floating around about the fate of the character Billy Abbott. It was unclear whether the character would exit altogether or if TPTB would find a recast (again).

Entertainment Weekly is confirming that “General Hospital” star Jason Thompson has been cast in the role of Billy Abbott.

“Y&R” rumors have been teasing for weeks that Jason Thompson might be headed to the hit CBS soap – especially since he recently confirmed he was exiting “GH” and would no longer be playing the part of Patrick Drake.

Word on the internet was that Thomspon was not happy with the lack of screen time he received on “GH” and, considering how pivotal Billy Abbott is in Genoa City, it will be the perfect role for him.

Jill Farren Phelps previously worked with Jason Thompson on “General Hospital” and she is thrilled that he will be joining her once again at the CBS soap.

Phelps dished to Entertainment Weekly, “I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with Jason again. He’s an exceptional actor and a wonderful human being. He will bring so much to the character and we’re thrilled to welcome him to The Young and Restless family.”

Daytime showrunner Angelica McDaniel also had nothing but nice things to say about their new Billy Abbott recast. McDaniel gushes to EW, “Jason Thompson is an incredibly gifted actor and we are thrilled to welcome him.”
