General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) slippery memories are hiding a nefarious secret about Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Anna found out something disturbing on a recent GH episode about her shared past with Valentin that stunned her.
After Anna was blinded by a migraine at the hospital, a mystery man showed up to provide helpful information just as she needed it. That was Karl Browning (J. Downing), a fellow WSB operative, that knows both Anna and Valentin and was able to fill in some gaps for her.
Karl told her that Valentin didn’t show up for his analyst job one day at the WSB – because he got wind of a kill order filed against him. Anna asked if the WSB had okayed the assassination order and Karl told her it was Anna herself that put Valentin on the kill list. She was shocked.
Why would Anna put out an order to kill Valentin? Karl also told Anna that she should stay far from Valentin because he is probably seeking revenge against her for the assassination order, not because she turned him down for a kiss back when he was a creepy hunchback.
It was kind of out of the blue (and convenient) for this guy Karl to pop up and narrate some info for us, so let’s hope he sticks around and gives Anna more information. But for now, GH fans are wondering why Anna would put a kill order out on Valentin.
It seems increasingly likely that Anna is the bad guy in all of this, not Valentin. He was right in saying she made him who he is, but it’s not about turning him down for a kiss. If you know your Anna Devane history, you might also know she was once a bad spy.
Decades ago, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) discovered she was betraying the WSB by acting as a double agent for the evil DVX cartel. He injured a traitor that was working against the WSB then found out it was Anna and divorced her. Valentin may have discovered the same truth.
Anna was a field agent while Valentin was an intelligence analyst and one of the best. Anna admitted he had a brilliant mind. If Anna was already a double agent when she entered the academy and was working for DVX, Valentin could have found her out.
We know Valentin was obsessed with her, and GH spoilers hint he was been digging into her past and tracking her movements. It started because he was crazy about her but when he figured out she might not be one of the good guys, that was a problem.
GH sources tease that Valentin went to Anna to confront her and ask if it was true and she turned the situation around on him. Anna could have planted evidence to make Valentin look like the traitor and then put him on the kill list.
Valentin has told her many times that she is the one that did him wrong and she’s not remembering everything that happened in her room that night. The same night he tried to kiss her may have been the same night he revealed her as a traitor.
Anna put a hit on Valentin to cover her dirty deeds but can’t remember it now. Don’t forget Anna has traumatic amnesia from a boat explosion in South America in the early 90s. When she turned up again in 2001, she had amnesia and lingering injuries from her near-death.
This is the same bad side of Anna that came out when she shot Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise). She’s not always been the ethical person that she thinks she is now – and it will be revealed soon she tried to murder Valentin to cover her own shady behavior.
Because of Anna’s betrayal, Valentin had to go on the run and live off the grid. That’s why he turned his brilliant mind to mercenary work which led to the corrective surgery and appearance in Port Charles. He’s right that Anna is to blame and she’ll remember soon.
