There’s no way Kate Middleton would allow her husband Prince William to appear at a red carpet event without her by his side. That’s why there’s a new report that says both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will appear at the BAFTA awards this year. Previous reports indicated that Kate Middleton was not invited to the awards show simply because nominated actresses feared that the Duchess would steal the spotlight away from them.
The 2017 BAFTA ceremony is scheduled for February 12. Even though Prince William is president of BAFTA, he skipped out on the show for two years in a row now. But this year they’ll be making a special appearance. According to Variety, Chief Executive of BAFTA Amanda Berry said in a statement, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are fantastic supporters of BAFTA. We very much look forward to welcoming Their Royal Highnesses at the EE British Academy Film Awards.”
Many royal observers aren’t surprised that both the Duke and Duchess will be attending the awards show this year. After all, Kate Middleton has never said no to a Hollywood premiere or red carpet event. Sure, Kate’s critics slam her as being a lazy, work-allergic member of the royal family. But if there’s one thing that Kate never misses out on it’s an opportunity to wear a designer dress at a glitzy event.
Kate shines whenever the cameras are on her. She attended the ‘A Street Cat Named Bob’ premiere on her own back in November. Both Kate and William also attended the most recent James Bond release, ‘Spectre’ in 2015.
Yet, the last time Kate attended a BAFTA Awards ceremony in 2009. That was before she married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge. So does mean that William has purposely been skipping out on the BAFTA’s simply because he doesn’t want Kate Middleton there? Or are Hollywood stars simply jealous of Kate’s popularity? Fans know that the truth will come out one way or another. It’s without a doubt that all eyes will be on the Duke and Duchess when they attend the BAFTA’s together this year.
