The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Eric Braeden Hints At Michael Muhney's Return As Adam Newman – Social Media Storm Ensues

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Michael Muhney’s (Adam) return to Y&R as Adam Newman is not false hope. In the most cryptically encouraging sign yet, Eric Braden (Victor) added his thoughts to a Twitter thread that’s linked to Muhney’s feed. Yes, Eric Braeden tagged Michael Muhney on June 1 in a thread where Muhney praised Eric’s work with him when they were Adam Newman and Victor Newman respectively.

Eric Braeden asked for patience regarding fan efforts to bring Michael Muhney back to the show. In so doing the veteran daytime actor neutralizes rampant speculation about him having veto power over Muhney’s rehire. Braeden also directly implied that Muhney’s return as Adam will actually happen, in time – when Adam Newman is written back into The Young and the Restless plot.

The now-fabled story of Muhney’s dynamic run on Y&R began in 2009, when he assumed the adult version of this character that was initially played by Chris Engen (2008-2009). Muhney’s subsequent run (2009-2014) became the most talked about effort in recent show history and within the entire soap genre itself.

Then, at the height of his popularity, news stunningly broke just before Christmas 2013, that Muhney had been fired by Y&R. Then executive producer Jill Farren Phelps offered no clear explanation for her decision and Muhney became oddly silent.

Fabrications were then invented by anonymous sources in the bowels of the Internet that tagged blame on everyone from Muhney to Braden to Hunter King (Summer). To-date, no actual evidence has been offered by real journalists that anyone actually committed any act that made Muhney ineligible for rehire. In fact the actor stated that he was interviewing to return to the show in mid-2014. However, Justin Hartley was hired instead.

Hartley’s voluntary departure from the show last year lead to another Adam write-out that took place in September. Currently storylines have just resolved Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) involvement in that arc, which appeared to establish the possibility of Adam coming back in some form.

No matter what anyone has chosen to believe, here’s the truth: Muhney was let go by Y&R in 2013. The actor later advised publicly that he believed his on-set behavior was too high-strung and therefore led to his dismissal. He praised Phelps at the time and since. Recently Muhney praised Braeden as his “…single greatest acting partner…”

Now, Braeden has responded to that tweet by asking the fans to be patient regarding Muhney’s return to Y&R. What doesn’t matter is past speculation. What doesn’t matter is how Y&R would explain the face-change back to Muhney. What does matter is what happens next.
