Why Selena Gomez's Relationship With The Weeknd May Not Be Good For Her

Selena Gomez is really smitten with The Weeknd. The two have been on a whirlwind romance ever since they were spotted kissing in Los Angeles back in January. Things haven’t slowed down for the couple. In fact, Selena Gomez has been following the R&B singer on his Starboy World Tour. Even fans the last thing she needs right now is to be in a relationship with someone who is a bad influence on her.

Selena Gomez slowed down a bit last year. She was in the middle of her Revival World Tour when she experienced anxiety, depression, and panic attacks from her ongoing Lupus struggle. Selena Gomez announced that she was entering a private treatment facility in Tennessee so that she could focus on her mental health. Selena Gomez hid away for 90 days. She did not have her cellphone with her. She didn’t even frequent social media like she usually does.

She emerged as a new woman at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Selena Gomez made her first-ever appearance ever since she took a brief break from the spotlight. Since then, the “Good For You” singer has been comfortably making her way back into the spotlight. Selena Gomez is the executive producer of “13 Reasons Why,” which she has been promoting. Though she revealed in her Vogue cover story that she would like to go away, she has been posting photos on Instagram and working on new music.

Then there’s her new relationship with The Weeknd. Selena Gomez was in an on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber for four years that messed with her head. Like Justin, The Weeknd is as bad an influence on her. The singer makes references about experimenting with drugs and sleeping around on his albums. That doesn’t sound like the ideal guy for a young woman who’s had mental health struggles.

This wasn’t the first time that Selena Gomez was in rehab. She was rumored to have entered rehab two times before. The only other reported time was during her Stars Dance World Tour, another tour she had to cut short. That’s when Selena Gomez was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease. That was also around the same time the singer was rumored to be struggling with drugs and alcohol. Not a good idea for her to hang out with The Weeknd.

Her family doesn’t seem to mind though. They love that she’s famous and that she gets to rub elbows with the famous. Selena Gomez brought some of her family to The Weeknd’s concert in Dallas, reports E! News. Selena brought along her cousin Priscilla DeLeon and her nephew Aiden. Selena grew up in Texas, so it made sense for her to introduce her family to her new boyfriend. It seems like they’re going along with this relationship even if looks shady on the outside. This comes days after Selena Gomez and The Weeknd got the seal of her approval from her own mom.
