Dancing With the Stars Season 12 Week Nine Live Recap - The Semi-Finals

Welcome to our recap of Dancing With The Stars.   Last week Romeo and Professional Dance Partner, Chelsie Hightower were eliminated. If you missed last week’s show catch our RECAP HERE.   We’re getting down to the wire now and only four couples remain in the competition to dance in the semi-finals.  The competition will be tough tonight with each pair dancing not once, not twice but three times during the night.  The final four will have to push themselves to the limit!

There will be a dance-off tonight, the couples will do the Cha Cha and the last couple standing will be the winner.   Some of the couples are suffering from injuries has Ralph Macchio knee healed enough so he can perform. He tweeted this weekend, “Thanks for asking – yes! Leg is better.” Has Hines Ward’s professional dance Kym Johnson who suffered a neck injury during rehearsals be in shape?  Hines posted on his Facebook this weekend, “Thanks for asking – yes! Leg is better,“Man, Kym is a SOLDIER! She’s dancing in her neck brace and will not quit!”

The dances to be performed during the Week 9 Semi-Finals are: Hines and Kym: Argentine tango and salsa; Chelsea and Mark: Argentine tango and rumba;  Kirstie and Maks: Viennese waltz and paso doble and Ralph and Karina: Argentine tango and salsa.

First up tonight is Ralph Macchio and Professional Dance Partner, Karina Smirnoff doing the Argentine Tango. ROUND 1Len said, it lacked a bit of emotion.  He thought it was sharp and precise.  Bruno said, he was very stern and he has not seen the Latin Lover yet.  It was too flat for him.  Carrie Ann said, she agrees with Bruno he has to get the emotion in his face.  She wants to see it all connected.  Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len -9, Bruno – 8  Sub-total = 25

Ralph Macchio and Professional Dance Partner, Karina Smirnoff doing the SalsaROUND 2Len said, you are committed but there was no rythm, too harsh.  Bruno said, he went for a bad ass Salsa.  Carrie Ann said, she liked it, she was impressed.  It was the most fun she has seen him have all competition. Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len -7, Bruno – 8  Sub-total = 23  TOTAL – 48 For the evening!

Kirstie Alley and Professional Dance Partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy dancing the Viennese waltzROUND 1Bruno said, she set sail beautiful.   Carrie Ann said, she was impressed, the technique was perfect.  Len said, the dance was a grueling dance but the dance was beautiful, it was a great dance, he felt she did well.  Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len -9, Bruno – 9  Sub-total = 27

Kirstie Alley and Professional Dance Partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy dancing the Paso DobleROUND 2 – Bruno said, that was the wrath of Kirstie, he thought she was going like a force of nature.  Carrie Ann said, she is the Queen of Paso Doble.  Len said, she had the two toughest dances to do and she has danced fabulously! Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len -9, Bruno – 9  Sub-total = 27  TOTAL – 54 For the evening!

Chelsea Kane and Professional Dancer, Mark Ballas dancing the Argentine Tango. ROUND 1 –  Carrie Ann said, that she is a fantastic dancer but she did not feel this dance was up-to-par for her.   Len said, her legs lacked authority through the dance.  But he felt it was clean and precise.   A first class performance.  Bruno said,  felt she played it well. He felt it was  absolutely perfect and the rest of the judges did not get it.  It was well done.  Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len -9, Bruno – 10 Sub-total = 28

Chelsea Kane and Professional Dancer, Mark Ballas dancing the RumbaROUND 2 –  Carrie Ann said, that was a nice rumba.  Len said, tonight she filler her potential she is there.  Bruno said, it was like a hypnotizing sequence of stunning shapes, it was stunning.  Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len -10, Bruno – 10  Sub-total = 30  TOTAL – 58 For the evening!

Hines Ward and Professional Dancer, Kym Johnson dancing the Argentine tango. Len said, that was a tango. ROUND 1 –  Bruno said, it was fabulous, you never wanted it to end.  Carrie Ann said, he was very impressed with Hines and how he danced – it was stunning!  Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len -10, Bruno – 10 Sub-total = 30

Hines Ward and Professional Dancer, Kym Johnson dancing the SalsaROUND 2 –  Len said, you were steaming and I was beaming.  Bruno said, one sentence describes you ‘you are beautiful’  Carrie Ann said, she cannot explain how much joy she feels when she watches him.  Scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Len -10, Bruno – 10  Sub-total = 30  TOTAL – 60 For the evening!

ROUND 3

Next is the winner takes all Cha Cha.  The winner of the round gets 15 points added to their score!  The other three couples get nothing.

First heat Hines & Kym against Ralph and Karina.

The Judges thought Hines did a great job and Ralph was totally committed.

They chose Hines & Kym to go ahead.

Chelsea & Mark against Kirstie & Max

The judges say they don’t know what they are going to do they were both good.

They chose Chelsea & Mark to go ahead.

Chelsea & Mark and Hines & Kim will face off and do the Cha Cha to Just Dance by Lady GaGa

Len said the two couples have totally different styles.  It is very difficult to decide.  Bruno, agrees they both did incredibly well.  Carrie Ann, said they have both proven they are dancers.

THE WINNER OF ROUND 3 – CHELSEA AND MARK!  They no get 15 judges marks added to their scores tonight!
