General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) is rapidly approaching a crossroads. This poor girl is a train wreck! For someone who’s supposedly a master manipulator, she sure fails a lot. None of Nelle’s schemes have ever really panned out, so maybe Michael (Chad Duell) overestimated her.
Nelle’s latest epic failure involved a botched blackmail plot that got her fired. Now she’s in even more of a financial bind. It looks like Nelle will go back to her previous plan. Michael’s money could be her only hope. Of course, how Nelle approaches this task will dramatically affect the outcome.
GH seems to have committed to dark Nelle, but where does she go from here? It appears they’ve written this character into a corner, but there may be an important reason for that. Nelle is now being forced down a risky path. There are probably only two options for Nelle now.
Option one is Nelle gets what she has coming. Either through prison or death, Nelle could pay for a lifetime of lies and opportunistic behavior. If GH took the death route, they could throw in a whodunit and send Nelle out with a bang.
However, even most of the Nelle haters agree that Chloe Lanier is a strong performer. Plus, it’d be a shame to lose Nelle when GH doesn’t have many characters in that age range. Perhaps Nelle needs an overhaul instead of a complete dismissal.
Luckily, the show has a chance to make changes. General Hospital spoilers state that Tamara Braun is headed back to the ABC soap on November 22. Braun and Lanier certainly look like they could be mother and daughter. They’ve interacted on Twitter lately, so maybe that’s a sign of things to come. Will Braun and Lanier be working together on an upcoming story?
That brings us to option two. Nelle could reach her breaking point and finally dial down the scheming. Of course, Nelle could still be a sassy character with a chip on her shoulder. She’s better as a vixen than a saint, but there’s no need to go overboard.
Learning her mom is still alive could be a pivotal moment for Nelle. The show could do a rewrite and suggest that Nelle’s father lied about her mother’s death. If her mom abandoned her instead, Nelle could address some deep issues. She could make amends with her mother and finally feel like she has someone in this world.
It seems likely that Braun will play Oscar’s (Garren Stitt) mom as well, so Nelle could gain a half-brother. Is a family all Nelle needs to turn from her wicked ways? It’s an option that might be worth exploring. That could be why Nelle will remain in Michael’s orbit over the next couple months.
It’s easy to imagine a scenario where Nelle visits Michael and catches her presumed dead mother meeting with Carly (Laura Wright). Talk about drama!
