General Hospital Spoilers: Anna Digs Deep for Robin Truth, Alex’s Past Brings Complications – See Who Robin Really Belongs To

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will carefully consider her options. She has to figure out whose memory is whose when it comes to her daughter – or is she her niece? How Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) fits in Anna’s past is still up in the air. Anna just doesn’t trust her own memories now that she knows a significant one belongs to Alex Devane Marick (Finola Hughes).

On April 12, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) wasn’t much help. He didn’t want to consider the possibility that Robin wasn’t Anna’s or that he slept with Alex impersonating Anna. However, Robert didn’t even know Robin existed until she was seven years old.

Longtime GH fans who also watched All My Children will recall that Alex Marick was introduced on that soap in 1999. Anna was discovered alive and was rescued after being killed in a boat explosion in 1996. Alex, Edmund Grey (John Callahan) and Alex’s husband, Dimitri Marick (Michael Nader), brought Anna to Pine Valley in 2001.

At that point, Alex had gone through many flashbacks in which she thought she was Anna and couldn’t quite put it all together. As time went on, she learned she’d been brainwashed by the woman she believed was her mother, Charlotte Devane (Samantha Eggar).

In reality, Charlotte was simply a relative who separated Anna and Alex at birth before taking Alex in to raise as her own. She was the director of a covert spying organization, which sounds a lot like General Hospital’s DVX.

Alex was in a Wales mental hospital for several years called Bryn Wydd, but it was actually a brainwashing facility in disguise. That’s where Alex was brainwashed to believe she was Anna. Alex was actually supposed to kill Anna, but she didn’t have the heart to do so when she realized they were twins.

Alex began having flashbacks of Anna’s memories by the time she came to Pine Valley and that led to the brainwashing truth coming out as well as the arrest of Charlotte. It’s possible that when Anna talked to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) about the deprogramming facility in Wales, she was jumbling up some of Anna’s memories.

We can only hope for Dante’s sake that it’s no longer a front for DVX brainwashing rather than a cure for it! Dante has obviously been through enough. As for Anna, there’s much more drama to come. When Anna first came to Pine Valley, she didn’t have any of her memories prior to the boat explosion. Nevertheless, those memories gradually came back, as did Alex’s.

Unfortunately, Alex had flashbacks of Robin and was confused about the real story. She later realized Robin wasn’t hers, but a box of mementos brought more questions. A rag doll brought the same flashback for both sisters. They recalled Robin holding that doll, but Alex figured it was just a leftover memory from her earlier brainwashing.

Anna and Alex weren’t always enemies, and both appeared to be brainwashed. Alex didn’t know about Anna and Anna didn’t know about Alex until they were adults. Could AMC’s Bryn Wydd have been where GH’s memory transfers of took place? Is that where Anna later sent Dante for a brainwashing cure?

Perhaps mingling memories are causing problems for each sister here. Neither Anna nor Alex may know for sure what the truth is. General Hospital spoilers say Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) will eventually work on a theory that could help Anna, so let’s hope they can sort all this out soon!

It’s doubtful GH will really make Robin Alex’s daughter in the end since it would only enrage viewers. An easier fix is making Peter August (Wes Ramsey) the false memory instead.
