General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some news to pass on about a former GH star. Billy Miller, who portrayed Drew Cain on the ABC soap, is currently appearing in a new drama miniseries airing exclusively on Apple TV+ that you can stream anytime. The series is called “Truth Be Told” and Billy has a recurring role as the husband of one of the drama’s main characters.
“Truth Be Told” is a legal/crime drama that is based on the novel “Are You Sleeping” by Kathleen Barber. It’s about a true crime podcaster played by Octavia Spencer whose articles were instrumental in helping to convict a young of murder 18 years ago. Now, there’s a question as to whether the man really committed the murder.
As it turns out, the murder victim in the case had two twin daughters, and Billy plays the husband of one of those daughters. Billy’s on-screen wife is played by Lizzie Caplan, whom you might remember from Freaks and Geeks, True Blood, and Mean Girls.
“Truth Be Told” has a star-studded cast, including Elizabeth Perkins, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Beach, and Ron Cephas Jones. It also has an impressive list of executive procurers, including Octavia Spencer, who also stars in the show, as well as Reese Witherspoon.
Of course, GH viewers know that Billy was last seen in the role of Drew Cain back in August 2019, when Drew ventured to Afghanistan on a mission to return money on behalf of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), who had just been implanted with Drew’s pre-2012 memories. His jet then went missing and was later reported to have crashed with no survivors.
Drew’s disappearance was orchestrated by Peter August (Wes Ramsey), who wanted to eliminate Drew to protect his big secret – that he worked directly with Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) to abduct Drew in Afghanistan years ago. Peter wants to protect his new “reformed’ persona and his relationship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), and he’s willing to resort to murder to do it.
Of course, the story of Drew’s plane going down thousands of miles away is awfully convenient, and GH fans can always hope for a Drew comeback at some point. We currently know of no plans for that to happen, but for now, Billy can be seen in “Truth Be Told,” in a very different role, which should be interesting to see.
