America’s Got Talent Recap 06/30/20: Season 15 Episode 6 “Auditions 6”

Tonight on NBC America’s Got Talent begins with an all-new Tuesday, June 30, 2020, episode and we have your America’s Got Talent recap below! On tonight’s AGT season 15 episode 6 “Auditions 6″, as per the NBC synopsis, “The auditions continue with creator and executive producer Simon Cowell at the judges’ table along with Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, guest judge Eric Stonestreet and host Terry Crews.

Variety acts of all types and contestants of all ages audition for the chance to win the $1 million prize. The Golden Buzzer is still in play and could send a lucky act directly to the live shows to compete for America’s vote.

First up this evening are the Wildcats, a cheerleading group from Plano, Texas. The youngest is 13 and the oldest, 29.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “That was amazing, it was synchronized, it was beautiful. You guys were so happy up there, I loved it.” Howie: “You guys are terrific and let me just say something, cheerleading has become a sport in itself, and has become competitive and even more, dangerous. I love you.” Eric: “You are just affirmation that cheerleading is not some appetizer at a sporting event, you are the main course, really great.” Simon: “There is nothing more exciting as when you see a group of people who are unbelievably talented. I can see the ambition and esteem in everyone’ of your eyes, I loved that. I think our audience is going to love you guys.” Four yes votes from the judges.

Jacob Velazquez lives in south Florida and he is a piano player and drummer. Jacob brought his vision board with him. He has a disorder similar to Asperger’s Syndrome with a speech delay and wants to show people that you can do anything, no matter the disability. Jacob gets a standing ovation from the judges.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “I thought it was spectacular, it was surprising, so beautiful and heartfelt. I loved it.” Howie: “You are an amazing prodigy. I was bowled over by the piano. In my mind, you are “boy”thoven.” Eric: “I don’t play the piano, but I do play the drums. Your tone and dynamics on the piano were amazing, then you go over to the drums and incredible.” Simon: “That deserves a standing ovation. You just have this aura about you Jacob, Howie used the word prodigy and that is what I was thinking, some people rarely just have this gift, combined with hard work and your showmanship, I think you are going to inspire a lot of people, you are special. Actually, you are my favorite performance and you are actually making my dreams come true right now.” Four yes votes from the judges.

Michael Yo is a Comedian and former reporter, he tells the judges that he has interviewed all of them before.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “I really loved it and want to know what everyone else thinks. I would go hug you but there is a virus going on.” Howie: “Let me tell you something, your rhythm is great, your passion is great, your voice is great, you are loveable and relatable, likable. You made the right choice and your family should be very proud of you right now.” Simon: “I love your story, I love your attitude, I love you full stop, I think you did a fantastic audition.” Eric: “It was great man, get busy living your dreams. It was a great man, that was hilarious, you didn’t push, you did exactly what you would do if you were playing for three thousand people. You nailed it.”

Four yes votes from the judges.

Brody an Alex are Brothers Gage and they are harmonica players.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “At the beginning when you guys started talking about the harmonica I was already dreading it. But you made it exciting and you play beautifully.” Simon: “Young guys who do something pretty amazing. I really liked the track, it wasn’t overproduced. That was an original song and the likeability was ginormous. I loved it.” Eric: “It was great, I loved your choreography, I loved how you stepped forward, step back, and the dueling sort of aspect of the performance. The Sky is the limit for you guys.” Howie: “We always talk about the surprises, and I will be honest with you, up until tonight, I thought the harmonica was one of the most annoying instruments to ever be invented. You made it so entertaining and so amazing. I think we have only seen the beginning of who you are on that stage.”

Shevon Nieto is a two-time Olympic athlete, she quit when her husband was in an accident and paralyzed from the waist down. Jamie kept saying he was sorry to her, for messing up their dreams. Now she writes songs and sings for Jamie to help him through. She is singing a special song that she wrote for Jamie, “Through the good and the bad.”

Judges Comments: Howie: “I thought that was beautiful and I will tell you why. You wrote that song with such great meaning and not only are you singing that song, but you are also living that song. And I feel in today’s world, people don’t stick together and I thought it was a wonderful, real, and moving performance.” Eric: “That was amazing, you put a big giant smile on my face from the bottom of my heart. You have a great singing voice too, and I appreciate that.” Sofia: “I think you are beautiful and your story is amazing, that you are here with hope after everything that you have been through, the song was very meaningful. And, I love your voice, it is wonderful. Thank you.” Simon: “Shivon, your whole story, it is such a powerful story, and it really got us to know you. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to meet you. The audition was in a different class. I absolutely loved your voice, you have a fantastic talent.”

Four yes votes from the judges.

Elijah de la Motte is from San Diego and he is 14 years old, there are nine kids in his family and he lives in a three-bedroom house. He is a cellist.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “You look like you were having the best time up there like you loved it. I thought it was fantastic, I loved how you enjoyed yourself being up there. Usually, this is not an instrument that gets me excited, but I was, I was having a great time watching you. I loved it.” Howie: “You don’t think that a cell is an upfront and center, but we all felt your joy.” Eric: “I love that you just go by Elijah, like Madonna and Cher, you are right up there with them. You relaxed me in my chair with your enthusiasm in yours. Thank you for that. Awesome job.” Simon: “I am going, to be honest with you Elijah, I didn’t like the track you chose. But that is good news, there is a progression to come. I think there is great potential for you, incredible talent, I loved it.”

Anthem and Aria are magicians from Denver, Colorado. Their dream is to start a family together. They start by singing to each other, it’s part of their act. Simon and Howie have hit the red buzzers. And, Sofia at the very end.

Judges Comments: Eric: “I need more magic, or some.” Sofia: “I thought you two were going to do magic, but then you started singing. I really didn’t know what was happening, I thought something was going to come but it never came. So, I am not really sure.” Simon: “Look it was sweet, it was corny.”

It is four no votes from the judges.

Jim & John are an acrobatic duo, one of them balances a broom on his head, the red buzzers sound off, these two are not making it through.

Kenadi Dodds is 15 years from Utah, she is a musician. Her younger sister is going blind and wanted to see her on the biggest stage in the world before she loses her vision.

Judges Comments: Eric: “Kenadi that was great, I love the notion of that song. What a goal to set for yourself.” Howie: “You kind of transform from who you are talking to us to when you are playing. This is just the beginning for you, I promise you. Your future is already set in stone from this moment.” Sofia: “I loved it very much. I love your boots. Actually, Eric helped me pick boots like that. I love your country look, you play the guitar and write your own songs. I can’t wait to see what the future brings to you.” Simon: “You got great style. Very authentic. Your voice sounds like you are from Nashville. I love artists your age who know what kind of lane they want to go down, and I think we can help you get there.”

Four yes votes from the judges.

Crystal Powell is 46 years old from Texas, she is a comedian.

Judges Comments: Simon: “I love you. The minute you came on you were just naturally funny. And, I live you.” Howie: “You are beautiful and funny, energetic and you make people smile.” Eric: “I think you are great, I love that you used the stool as a window peaking in, it was awesome.” Sofia: “I thought it was super fun, you looked beautiful and you were great on stage.”

Four yes votes from the judges.

Wesley Williams is a Unicyclist, he was on Britain’s Got Talent. He is from Florida, and he is 22 years old.

Judges Comments: Simon: “I really felt at one point this was going to go horribly wrong and you pulled it together. You’ve got real guts.” Howie: “We have had unicyclists here, you are more of a stunt, dangerous routine. You took it up a notch.” Sofia: “I loved it.”

Simon gets yes votes from all the judges and goes through.

Brandon Leake is from a small town in California. He works at a high school and a college. He is the first “spoken word” artist to be on America’s Got Talent. The poem is something he wrote, it is an ode to his sister. Howie stands up and claps, Simon stands up.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “My brother passed away the same year that your sister passed away. I can feel your pain, I know what this, to have someone taken away from you. It was very beautiful to me.” Simon: “What an amazing tribute, there is something special about you. Really. This is a very difficult thing to judge. I just want to compliment you on what you just did, it was extraordinary.” Howie: “It is amazing to me that on season 15 we are for the first time hearing someone of the spoken word. There was something so raw. No music, no nothing, just a raw heart beating in front of us. You moved me to do this.”

Howie hits the olden buzzer and goes on stage to give Brandon and fist pump. He is going straight to the live shows. Simon and Sofia go on stage and give him an elbow. Terry tells Brandon that his life has changed.
