Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, August 28, reveal that Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) talked in their room at the DiMera mansion.
Jake told an upset Gwen that he wanted to find out where things would go between himself and Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus). Gwen fumed, and once she realized that Jake was serious, she started throwing flowerpots and vases at Jake.
After more arguing, Jake told Gwen that she needed to move out, and that he couldn’t just pick up where they left off. Jake said it was best if Gwen left Salem, and she balked, saying that she didn’t have anywhere to go.
Ultimately Jake left the room, saying that he hoped she would find someone who makes her happy. Gwen sat on the bed and cried.
Downstairs, Eduardo Hernandez (A Martinez) insisted that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Gabi needed to go into hiding with him, and that their lives were in danger. Gabi didn’t believe it, but Eduardo meant business, and he got Dario Hernandez (Jordi Vilasuso) on the phone, who reported that there were people after him right now.
Gabi and Rafe finally realized that this was all very real, and Gabi insisted on making sure that her daughter was safe before she left. Gabi, Rafe, and Eduardo all took off to go get Ari Horton (Sydney Brower).
Over at the Kiriakis mansion, Will Horton (Chandler Massey) updated Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) on John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) condition. Will said that John remained sedated until the brain swelling went down.
Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) then walked in wondering if it was true that “WilSon” were leaving Salem. Sonny explained about running his brothers’ new biotech startup, and how he and Will were headed to Arizona.
Chad, Will, and Sonny had their goodbye. A short while later, Gabi and Eduardo showed up. Gabi lied, saying that her mother was sick and so she, Rafe, and Eduardo were going to Mexico to be with her. “So for now, Ari will stay with you guys,” Gabi said. Eduardo balked, saying that Ari should come with them to Mexico, but Gabi refused.
Sonny immediately offered to help Gabi’s mom get medical care, and Gabi broke down and told “WilSon” the truth about how Eduardo upset some people and now they wanted to kill his family.
Eduardo said that they could make it look like Ari went to Mexico, but that in reality she’d go to Arizona with Will and Sonny. Will and Sonny promised to keep Ari safe.
Gabi went upstairs to say goodbye to Ari, and then she returned and had a tearful goodbye with Will and Sonny. Gabi told Eduardo that there was one more person she needed to say goodbye to, and she flashed back to kissing Jake earlier. Gabi and Eduardo rushed off.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Gwen was still moping in the bedroom when Chad came in asking what happened. Gwen explained that Jake broke up with her, and she said that she found Gabi in bed with Jake.
Chad absorbed that information, and he surmised that Gabi was just trying to worm her way back into DiMera Enterprises.
Gwen lamented, saying that Jake thought he really had a connection with Gabi. This all amused Chad, who couldn’t help but smiling. Gwen then asked if she could stay at the mansion as Chad’s guest. Chad reluctantly agreed.
Downstairs, Gabi walked in, looking at a picture of Ari. Jake came in and said that he broke up with Gwen, and he rambled on for a while. Then Gabi turned around and Jake could tell that something was wrong.
Gabi lied and said that her mother was sick and that she needed to go to Mexico to be with her. “This is goodbye,” Gabi said.
Jake said that this didn’t have to be the end, and he even offered to go with Gabi, but she balked. Gabi then insisted that she only slept with Jake because he looked like Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) and that she wanted back in at DiMera Enterprises.
Jake didn’t believe her, but she insisted that it was true, and she took off in a hurry. Jake looked like he didn’t buy it.
In Paige Larson’s (True O’Brien) old dorm room, Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) asked Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) what he just remembered. Ben said that Ciara Weston (Victoria Konefal) told him he didn’t have to kill her, and that he told her he loved her but that he didn’t have a choice.
Hope was beside herself, and she screamed at Ben, “Did you kill her?”
Ben said that he wanted to, but that he didn’t remember killing Ciara. “Then where is she?” Hope cried. “Ben, what happened to my daughter?” Ben thought that perhaps Ciara ran away, but Hope said that Ciara would surely find a way to call her. Ben asked Hope to arrest him, because as long as he was free, Ciara wouldn’t be safe.
In the Salem PD squad room, Hope and a handcuffed Ben arrived just as Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) was walking Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) through the room.
Ben raged and lunged at Eve, saying he’d get her, and Eve yelled that she wanted Ben to feel the same pain that she felt. Rafe arrived, wanting to know what was going on, and Hope explained what happened with Ben and Ciara and the brainwashing.
After establishing that no one knew where Ciara was, Rafe asked where Vincent (Michael Teh) was, but no one knew. Eve said that she hoped Ciara was ok, and Eli got Eve out of there. An officer took Ben, and Rafe told Hope that the needed to talk in private.
Rafe and Hope went into the interrogation room, where Hope broke down about Ciara. Rafe comforted her, and he explained about Eduardo breaking into his house earlier.
Rafe lied, saying that his mother was very sick, and that he had to go to Mexico to be with her. “But I’m not leaving now, I won’t leave you like this,” Rafe insisted.
Hope insisted that Rafe’s place was with his mother, but Rafe said that this was about his relationship with Hope and that he didn’t want to walk away. Hope said she’d be fine, just like Ciara would be fine.
Hope and Rafe declared their love for each other and kissed, then Rafe left. Hope broke down crying, and Rafe walked out of the police station.
