Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, December 18, reveal that Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) and Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) talked after Christmas shopping.
Abigail lamented about her problems with Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), noting that even though she forgave him, he’s still giving her the cold shoulder. Abigail thought that perhaps Chad just needed reassurance, and she said she was going home to have a wonderful Christmas.
At the DiMera mansion, Chad and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) talked, and Chad revealed that he was still suspicious of Abigail and Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash).
As they talked, Gwen realized that they were under the mistletoe, and awkwardness ensued. Suddenly, Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) arrived as a Christmas surprise.
Chad was thrilled to see Tony and Anna, but Gwen looked upset by their arrival. After some visiting, Chad and Tony left for Statesville to visit with Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).
Anna tried to make nice with Gwen, but Gwen wasn’t having it and basically refused to offer Anna any information about herself or her family.
Abigail and Jack returned from their shopping expedition, and Gwen took the opportunity to leave and go wrap the presents that Abigail and Jack had bought.
Gwen seemed really upset by her encounter with Anna, and she went upstairs. Meanwhile, Anna asked Jack where his lovely wife was. Jack looked hesitant, and Abigail said that Jennifer Deveraux (Cady McClain) was over at the Horton house.
Upstairs in Jake’s room, Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) was leaving a present for Jake on his bed when Jake emerged from the bathroom wearing only a towel. After making love, Jake opened the present and it was a beautiful red tie.
Jake said that Kate might find her present later in her room, and Kate left. Gwen saw Kate leave, and then she entered Chad’s room and needled him about his relationship with “Granny Kate.”
At the Horton house, Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) visited with Jennifer. Lucas quickly learned that Jennifer suspected that Jack was still carrying on an affair with Kate.
Jennifer said that the front-desk clerk over at the Salem Inn told Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) that Kate checked into the Salem Inn with a man whose name started with a “J.”
Soon, Jennifer and Lucas took off to track down the front desk clerk, finding him in town square. Jennifer asked the clerk if Kate checked into the Salem Inn with a man named Jack, and he said yes.
Jennifer’s face fell. Then Lucas pulled up a picture of Jack on his phone, and the clerk said that definitely wasn’t the man with Kate. Jennifer was glad to hear that.
At Statesvile, Kristen disconnected from a call with Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers), and suddenly Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) appeared. Rolf said that he had a present for Kristen, which was a framed picture of her, Stefano DiMera (Joesph Mascolo), and Chad.
Rolf said he had a photo for Chad also and that he was deeply sorry about trying to shoot Chad earlier this year.
Later, Tony and Chad arrived to see Kristen, who was overjoyed to see them. Chad noticed the photo from Rolf, and Kristen relayed that Rolf was sorry about the past. Tony, Kristen, and Chad reminisced about Stefano and times past.
Later, Chad visited with Rolf, who apologized for everything he had done. Chad said there was no point holding grudges.
Rolf then probed about whether Chad was having a good holiday season with his family, and eventually Chad mentioned that Jake was there. “I know you didn’t want Jake around during Thanksgiving,” Rolf said. “How’d you know that?” Chad demanded. Rolf covered, saying that Kristen mentioned it earlier.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Kate walked into the living room and talked with Anna as Jack took off. Anna wondered if Kate had a special man in her life at the moment, and just then Jake walked in.
“Oh my God!” Anna exclaimed, noting that Jake looked just like Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). Chad and Tony arrived, and Jake approached Tony, comically calling him “bro.”
Gwen breezed in the room, having wrapped all the presents. “This one’s for you, I believe,” Gwen said, handing a present to Abigail. Turns out, it was Jake’s present for Kate.
Jake and Kate looked at each other, realizing what Gwen was up to. Gwen urged Abigail to open this present early, and ultimately Abigail did.
The present turned out to be a beautiful bracelet, which Abigail assumed was from Chad. Chad said that he didn’t buy the gift for Abigail, and he wondered who did. Jake said he bought the present, but for someone else – Gwen.
Jake said the gift was an apology for the breakup and for everything that happened with Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus). Jake put the bracelet on Gwen.
Back at the Horton house, Jennifer was alone when Jack stopped by with a gift in hand. “It’s Christmas Eve. I brought you something – please accept it,” Jack urged. Jennifer took the gift, and Jack wished her a Merry Christmas and left. Jennifer shut the door and said to herself, “Merry Christmas, Jack.”
