General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) could be sporting a new look when new episodes of GH return. As you’re surely aware, GH is currently on hiatus from filming due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the hope is that the show will soon be filming again. And fans have been wondering exactly what kinds of changes might be in store when filming does resume.
Certainly, scenes may be filmed in a very different manner, in order to comply with the appropriate social distancing protocols that GH will have to have in place. The use of extras in scenes may be limited or eliminated altogether.
And characters will probably have a lot of one-on-one interactions while standing about six feet apart. It might take some getting used to on everyone’s part, but we’ll live with it to get GH back!
Well, another change that could be taking place on GH has to do with the personal appearance of Sonny. You might have seen pictures of other soap stars from their personal social media feeds in which haircuts have grown out and beards are growing.
Maurice Benard, who portrays Sonny, recently shared a selfie on his Instagram feed showing some grey hair and the beginnings of a grey beard!
Maurice’s caption said simply: “GREY yes/no?” And judging by many of the comments, it seems that fans wouldn’t mind if Sonny went grey down the line. “Why yes, you look so handsome with the grey,” one follower replied to Maurice’s post. “Love the silver!!!” another follower gushed. And someone said: “Either will look good.”
Of course, when GH does come back, Sonny will likely sport the same look that he had when filming ended, for continuity’s sake. After all, even though it will be many weeks later, the story will continue on just as if no time has passed…that is, unless the show goes the “time jump” route and the action picks up some time after things left off.
If there is a time jump type scenario – for example, if the show jumps over a few months into the future, then it’s conceivable that Sonny could have gone grey in that amount of time…after all, Maurice did!
It might even fit into the story, especially if, for example, Mike Corbin (Max Gail) ends up passing away during the time that passes. Going grey could show the “wear” on Sonny that his dad’s passing has on him.
