General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) has a big battle ahead of him. As GH viewers know, Nelle Benson Archer (Chloe Lanier) has sued him for sole custody of Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson), and according to Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy), Nelle’s got a fighting chance of winning the case.
Now Nelle has high-powered attorney Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) representing her, and we all know that Martin is a shark who fights dirty. Things aren’t going to be easy for Michael, and now he’s got another issue on his hands – the lawsuit that Nelle has filed against GH, which specifically names Michael’s grandmothers, Bobbie Jones (Jacklyn Zeman) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson).
The lawsuit is, of course, Nelle’s way of causing chaos for Michael, so that he and Diane are distracted from the custody case. It’s also Nelle’s way of lashing out over what Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) did to her up on the roof at GH.
GH viewers will remember that it was Carly who locked Nelle on the roof and forged her signature on the consent form for Wiley’s heart surgery. Nelle had been refusing to sign, and Carly took matters into her own hands.
Well, Carly’s actions certainly solved a problem in the short-run for Michael – it got Wiley’s surgery underway and allowed some relief for the little boy. But could Carly’s interference with Nelle actually cause some bigger problems down the line for Michael?
After all, Nelle’s got Martin representing her, and he’s bound to bring up Carly’s actions at the custody hearing.
It would seem that the judge might be very interested in hearing about how Carly totally undermined Nelle’s parental right to refuse consent to her child’s surgery.
Of course, the judge wouldn’t have the relevant context to appreciate why Carly’s actions were necessary, and it could end up looking pretty bad for Michael’s case in the custody matter. Nelle could end up looking like an innocent victim here.
And that could cause the judge to wonder if Michael and his family provides the best environment to raise Wiley. It’s a terrible thought, but Carly’s impulsive actions against Nelle could cost Michael custody of his little boy.
And that would be a huge victory for Nelle, who would not only win custody of Wiley, but she’d be able to rub it in Carly’s face that Carly was the reason for her big victory.
That would horrify Carly, and it would be truly unfortunate if she had to watch Michael hand Wiley over to Nelle knowing that it was her own actions that caused the ruling. But that could be the consequence of Carly’s actions.
We should note, too, that Wiley’s future surgery depends on Michael having full decision-making power over Wiley’s medical decisions. Carly’s actions could ultimately result in Wiley not getting the surgery he so desperately needs.
There’s definitely a lot at stake for Wiley in this custody case, so let’s hope that Carly’s actions haven’t ruined Michael’s chances of winning!
