Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Criticized For Using Crown Logo – But Royal Expert Says It’s Ok

British royals news reveals that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under a flurry of criticism over the past several days for their continued use of a crown logo on their stationery after exiting the royal family. Harry and Meghan have used a crown as part of their official monogram since they became husband and wife back in 2018.

Well, last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent a letter of thanks to a charity called StreetGames, which is a national sports charity that helps young people in the UK’s most disadvantaged areas. The charity had been working with Hubb Kitchen, which is one of Meghan’s most beloved charities, to deliver meals during the coronavirus lockdown.

StreetGames then published the entirety of the letter on its Twitter feed, which allowed the world to see that Harry and Meghan were still using their crown logo, which appears atop of a combined H & M. Well, as tends to happen on Twitter, some people had a complete meltdown over the crown monogram.

It seems that some think that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shouldn’t be using the crown monogram any longer, since they’ve stepped down as senior members of the royal family and are living in Los Angeles now. Snarky replies to StreetGames tweet ensued.

One person said: “How nice of them to send this out using the symbol they have left behind. Must have leftover stationery.” And someone else said: “Why are they still using the Royal symbol?” Yet another person commented: “They don’t get it. They abandoned Harry’s heritage but they’re still using a crown.”

Yet, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are within their rights to continue using the crown logo since Harry is the son of the heir apparent, Prince Charles. “They are entitled to use the coronet as Harry is the son of an heir apparent and Meghan was also assigned a coronet on their marriage,” Fitzwilliams said.

It’s also the case that other nonworking royals to use crowns in their monograms as well. Insider has reported that Princess Eugenie and her husband James Brooksbank also use a crown logo, despite the fact that they have never been working royals. In addition, Princess Beatrice and her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi use a crown logo on their correspondence.

It seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t committed any faux pas by maintaining their monogram after their departure from the UK. But that doesn’t mean that everyone is going to like it. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals news and updates.
