The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, April 27, reveals that a fantastic flashback episode aired, which served as a fun kickoff to “Katherine the Great” week. We’ve got the scoop on what went down in this encore Y&R episode from 1990.
First, a captive Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) gave orders to Esther Valentine (Kate Linder). They discussed Katherine’s imposter, Marge Cotroke (Jeanne Cooper), and how Esther should pull the switch on the fuse box. From there, Esther was instructed to bash Marge in the head with a pan.
After Katherine warned that it was a matter of life and death, there was a knock on the door. Soon, Marge and Katherine were facing off. As things got heated, Esther suggested coffee – which was the start of Katherine’s plan. Esther knocked Marge out in the dark kitchen, so Katherine escaped to a waiting car and headed for the Chancellor Estate.
Next in our Young and the Restless spoilers recap, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) had a strategy session. They talked about how to protect Cassandra Rawlins (Nina Aversan) and how Adrian Hunter (Mark Derwin) would score quite an insurance payday if she died.
Meanwhile, Adrian proposed to Cassandra, who was deeply moved since she was in such a mess. However, Cassandra rejected the proposal initially since she felt she had no future. Adrian assured Cassandra that he would help her fight the charges. He wanted to do that as her husband, so he kept up his efforts until Cassandra relented and accepted his marriage offer.
At the hospital, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) spoke with Leanna Love about Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Leanna felt Jack would have to move quickly on his plans.
Victor would react quickly if he felt he was losing his grip on Nikki. Jack complained about the way Victor hooked women and used his kids, but he ultimately turned his attention to ailing John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).
Jack insisted he wouldn’t let Victor step over his dad and declared that Jabot was a family business. He intended to teach Victor that lesson, so Leanna assumed Jack’s Nikki pursuit was part of his tactic. Jack noted that it was about making Nikki happy and saving his family at the same time.
John woke up briefly and told Jack not to do anything foolish. Jack begged his dad not to abandon them and argued that the company still needed John. Once John lost consciousness again, Jack vowed that Victor would pay. Jack also gave Nikki a call, but she wasn’t at the ranch.
Next, Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and David Kimble (Michael Corbin) talked about their bright future. They couldn’t make love since Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) was sleeping upstairs, but Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) showed up soon after anyway. After Nina introduced Danny to David, Christine came down and shared some private moments with Danny.
Danny assured Cricket that none of the women he met on the road measured up to her. Christine was eager to make the most of having Danny back in Genoa City. Across town, Nathan Hastings (Nathan Purdee) enjoyed a dance with Amy Lewis (Stephanie E. Williams).
They said they’d missed each other, and Nathan thought it was fate that Amy had returned. Before Nathan could declare his love, Amy insisted she had something to tell him.
Sadly, Nathan passed along Amy’s bad news to Lynn soon after. Amy had revealed that she was taking a job in Arizona. Once Victor and Paul arrived, they spoke with Nathan and Lynn about Adrian – the professional killer according to Victor’s warning. Nathan needed to get in the house before Adrian had a opportunity to strike, but he suggested calling backup.
