The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Friday, October 23, tease that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will return to the penthouse after her trip to visit Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). Chelsea will call out for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), but he won’t be anywhere to be found.
Meanwhile, over at Crimson Lights, Adam will see Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) walk in, and Adam will note that congratulations are in order. Rey will fire back that an arrest warrant may be in order for Adam.
Adam will respond by saying that things between Rey and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will never work out. Rey will know that Adam’s trying to make him jealous so the he forgets about the exposé and the case that the GCPD is putting together against him.
Rey will say that he’ll be the one to put out the torch that Adam’s carrying for a woman who doesn’t even want him. Adam will bluster about how Rey will never know Sharon the way he does. Chelsea will walk up behind Adam as he goes on about how he and Sharon will find their way back to each other.
“What is Chelsea, your backup plan?” Rey will ask. “I don’t need one,” Adam will say confidently, as Chelsea runs out the door unseen. Chelsea will be horrified by what she’s heard, and she’ll head back to the penthouse.
On the patio, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) will notice Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) brooding, and she’ll decide that Elena needs a friend. Lola and Elena will sit and have a lengthy conversation, and Elena will tell Lola all about how her affair with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) happened.
Lola will insist that Elena’s not a bad person, and she’ll encourage Elena to examine her feelings for Nate.
Elena will say that she’s going to quit working at the New Hope Clinic, and Lola will encourage Elena to think about it before she makes a big decision. Elena will also note that she needs a place to live, and Lola will invite her to come live in the apartment with her. Elena will accept, and she’ll smile for the first time in a long time.
At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will turn down Devon’s offer to go to New York with him, but she’ll offer to lend an ear anytime. Devon will be miffed, and Amanda will go, but then Devon will stop her and say that he’d like to talk now.
At Sharon’s place, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will stop by to see how Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) is going. Faith will be upstairs doing schoolwork, and Sharon and Nick will find themselves worrying about Faith but deciding to just keep an eye on her for now.
Nick and Sharon will then have a warm conversation about Sharon’s engagement to Rey, with Nick saying that he’s truly happy for Sharon and grateful for their friendship.
Later, Sharon will get a surprise when she walks into the living room to find Rey kneeling and with an engagement ring in a box on the coffee table. Sharon will love the ring, and Rey will suggest that they set a wedding date. Sharon will be into it, and they’ll finally decide on a New Year’s Eve wedding.
At the New Hope Clinic, Nate will nurse his bandaged hand, which he’ll just have had surgery on. Nick will arrive and comment on Nate’s injury, and ultimately Nick will put two and two together and realize that the problem between Nate and Devon must be Elena.
Nick will think that Nate really messed up, which Nate will totally agree with.
Later, Nate will be alone in the clinic when Elena arrives saying that they need to discuss some things. First, Elena will ask about Nate’s hand, and he’ll explain that he had surgery and will know more later.
Then, Elena will say that she’s no longer going to work at the clinic. Nate will protest, and he’ll offer to be the one to leave.
Elena will refuse, saying that eventually Devon will forgive Nate, but that Devon won’t forgive her. Elena will think that the future of the clinic could be jeopardized if she stays.
Nate will think that Elena should try to salvage something from the ashes of this situation, but Elena will yell that it’s all over, and she’ll rush out of the clinic upset.
At Society, Amanda and Devon will talk about Nate and Elena’s affair. Amanda will feel partly responsible, but Devon will insist that this is on Nate and Elena, and no one else.
Devon will say that he doesn’t believe Elena when she insists that she still loves him and has no feelings for Nate, and Devon will say that he will not forgive either of them.
Later, Devon and Amanda will head to Amanda’s suite at the Grand Phoenix. Amanda will find an envelope from the private investigator she hired to gather facts about her birth.
Amanda will read the contents, and she’ll learn that the private investigator spoke to a woman who lived in her mother Rose’s apartment building years ago named Nadine. Amanda will say that Nadine doesn’t remember seeing Rose pregnant, but that one day Rose was suddenly showing off a baby.
Back at Adam’s penthouse, Adam will arrive home, and he’ll be confronted by Chelsea, who will divulge that she heard everything Adam said about wanting Sharon at Crimson Lights.
Chelsea will be nearly shaking with anger and frustration, and Adam will insist that he was just trying to get under Rey’s skin. Chelsea won’t buy it, and she’ll say that she’ll always be the disposable place filler for Sharon.
Chelsea will gather her nearby suitcase saying that she’s done with Adam’s lies and manipulation and hatred. “This is goodbye, Adam,” Chelsea will say. “I’m officially and forever done.” Chelsea will take her bags and leave, with Adam looking horrified.
