The Young and the Restless Spoilers Recap: Monday, August 31 – Victoria Disrespects Victor – Adam Desperate – Rey & Sharon At Odds

The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Monday, August 31, tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will rest at home, tired from her trip to Kansas. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will note that Sharon is taxed from her trip, but Sharon will insist that her going to Kansas was the right thing to do, and that she’s worried about Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) state of mind.

Meanwhile, over at the Newman Ranch, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will call Sharon wanting to know what happened in Kansas. Sharon will say that Victor needs to give Adam time to reach out, and that it’s Adam’s story to tell.

Soon, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will walk in the room, and she and Victor will talk about the kids, who will be in the game room playing.

Victor will think that they have more to say to each other, and Victoria will balk, saying that there was nothing left to say. Victor will admit that Victoria’s sales to Jabot and Chancellor Communications were good deals, and that promoting Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was a good idea, too.

But Victor will think that there’s an outstanding issue that they need to deal with – Adam.

Victoria will insist that they’ll never agree when it comes to Adam, and that Victor defends Adam after Adam has betrayed him over and over.

Victor will say that he’d do the same for any of his children, but Victoria will disagree, saying that she and the other children suffer over what Victor does for Adam.

Victoria will blast Victor for insulting and humiliating her by giving the CEO spot to Adam, and she’ll leave in a huff with Victor quite displeased.

Back at Sharon’s house, Rey will recount how he gave Sharon space in Kansas while she dealt with Adam, but he’ll say that he doesn’t want to be Sharon’s backup – he wants to be her partner.

Rey will then try to deduce that Adam must have been the victim of some crime as a kid, and Sharon will tell Rey to stop treating this like one of his cases.

Rey will persist, and Sharon will yell at him to drop it. Sharon will calm down, and she’ll ask Rey to stop doing police work, and to let her do her job.

Rey will say that this is difficult, and that Sharon should re-evaluate whether all of this is worth it – both for her and for Adam. Sharon will think that Rey is overreacting, and Rey will think that Sharon is going way beyond the call of duty for Adam.

Rey will have had enough, and when Sharon says that she’s going to see this commitment through no matter what, Rey will head off to work frustrated. Rey will ask why Adam can’t let someone else save him, and why Sharon can’t do the same.

At Adam and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) penthouse, Adam will come back from a walk to find Chelsea worrying. Chelsea will think that Adam is spinning, and she’ll worry that he’s going to leave her and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).

Adam will say that won’t happen, and that he needs time alone to sort this out.

Chelsea will go upstairs to check on Connor, and Adam will remember something new from the farmhouse. Adam will remember eavesdropping on Victor and Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman) as they talked about Adam’s attack on AJ Montalvo.

Adam will recall Hope telling Victor that Adam was calm after AJ died, and that the caretaker had come in and said that the look on Adam’s face was terrifying because it was so calm.

Adam will recall Hope saying that Adam was disconnected from the whole thing, like he didn’t remember. Adam will then snap out of the memory as Chelsea comes back downstairs.

Adam will tell Chelsea that he remembered something, and that his parents knew who he was and what he’s been since the day he was born.

Adam will lament that AJ threatened him, too, and that his attack on AJ was partly self-serving. Chelsea will say that Adam was just a kid who was protecting himself and his mother.

Adam won’t buy that it was just a “natural” reaction, and he’ll say that if were Connor, then Chelsea would be scared to death. “I intended for him to die,” Adam will say.

Adam will then bring up Delia Abbott’s (Sophie Pollono) death and what happened in Las Vegas. Chelsea will order Adam to stop, saying that she wishes that Adam could see the man she sees.

Adam will say that he could have taken another course of action, but he chose to kill AJ, and Chelsea will say that Adam is turning this into something it’s not. Chelsea will say that Adam is pushing her away, and just then the doorbell will ring. Victor will appear at the door.

At Chancellor Communications, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will be working when Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) arrives to visit and see Billy’s new digs.

Jack and Billy will discuss various things, including Victor probably being peeved that Victoria sold off Newman Enterprises’ Communications Division and Newman Cosmetics. Then Jack will say that he’s proud of Billy for finding his own way. Billy will be pleased.

Jack will share where he is in his life right now, and how Jabot is plugging along and that he’s been spending time with Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). Jack will reference Dina’s recent message to Jack via the home movie that he should find love again, and how it’s “love above all else.”

Soon, Billy will need to get on a conference call, and Jack will take off.

Billy will later disconnect from the conference call, and he’ll notice an alert on his phone. Billy will read it out loud – it will say that Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) has been named General Counsel of Chancellor Communications. Billy will smile.

Finally, over at Jabot, Jack will get on the phone and order someone to send flowers to Victor with a snarky note, then he’ll change his mind and tell the person to send the flowers to his mother with a note that reads “love above all else.”
