GH fans know Britt was desperate to find Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), so she called Jason for help with the search. Now that Jason has been presumed dead, Britt isn’t sure how she’s supposed to live with the knowledge that she’s responsible.
Of course, Britt isn’t really at fault for what happened in the tunnel collapse. Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is the maniac who led them all down there in the first place, so he’s the only person who deserves all the blame he’s been getting.
Nevertheless, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will face quite the emotional wallop when she learns Jason was killed on the mission Britt took him on. Sometimes it’s easier to be angry than face the sorrow of a situation like this, so Carly will likely lash out. She may have some harsh things to say that make Britt feel even worse.
Fortunately, Sonny has been far more “chill” ever since he got back from Nixon Falls. There are still shades of “Mike” under the surface, so that makes him a comforting presence and excellent advice-giver. Those should be pretty good qualities to have when Sonny and Britt discuss Jason’s demise.
Britt may break down in tears and admit she wishes it had been her instead. She feels like she’s going to die anyway after a Huntington’s disease battle, so she would’ve rather Jason come home to his loved ones – particularly his kids. The fact that Jason died playing hero for Britt will be tough to accept.
However, Sonny may argue that he would’ve done exactly the same thing in her position. Britt’s mom was in danger, so she turned to someone she trusted with the right skills for the job. How many times has Sonny turned to Jason for help with a dangerous crisis? Too many to count!
Jason just as easily could’ve been killed on a mission Sonny ordered, but it just so happened to be Britt’s unlucky job that led to his presumed death. Sonny may point out that he could see how much Jason cared for Britt and warn that Jason wouldn’t want her blaming herself for any of this.
Besides, Britt’s request led to Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) being deactivated and coming home, so Jason was certainly glad to help his brother. It’s unfortunate that Jason couldn’t make it back home as well, but it sounds like Sonny will try to alleviate some of Britt’s guilt.
