General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will find that he enjoys his life as “Mike” – especially when it comes to the time he spends in the kitchen. Sonny will become quite enthusiastic about his new job as a cook at Lenny Caulfield’s (Rif Hutton) bar.
Phyllis Caulfield (Juliette Jeffries) will probably think it’s good that “Mike” has something to keep his mind occupied. Since Sonny seemed knowledgeable about food at the hospital, Phyllis considered the idea that he might’ve been a chef in his old life.
Of course, Sonny suggested maybe he was just someone who liked to eat instead, but he’ll still find that life as a cook suits him. The problem is Sonny will slowly go overboard when it comes to his enthusiasm. Phyllis will quickly realize there may be more to Sonny’s passion for the kitchen than meets the eye.
General Hospital spoilers say Phyllis will watch Sonny closely and determine that he’s likely having some manic episodes. Sonny will be overexcited as he deals with his racing thoughts and emotions. Phyllis has been a nurse all her adult life, so she knows the warning signs when she sees them.
Phyllis will feel confident that Sonny has some kind of psychological disorder, though she may not be able to nail it down further just based on her observations. Whatever the case, Phyllis will definitely sense that Sonny has some mental health issues that need to be addressed.
Once Phyllis confides her suspicions to Lenny, he’ll immediately grow concerned. Lenny has already been battling some worries about Sonny, so this will only add to him. There’ll probably be an argument or two between Lenny and Phyllis, who really likes “Mike” and wants to help him.
If Sonny’s mood comes crashing down in another manic episode, that could lead to some dangerous behavior. Sonny might have a meltdown that leaves Lenny and Phyllis unsettled. Will Lenny kick Sonny out of the bar out of fear that something terrible might happen?
That’s a possibility to consider, but Phyllis might fight hard to keep Sonny around. Perhaps Phyllis could get additional testing for Sonny at the hospital, which could lead to another bipolar diagnosis. GH fans know Sonny is indeed bipolar and needs his meds, so hopefully Phyllis can make that happen for him.
