The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers recap for Tuesday, February 16, reveal that Dr. Campbell (Tina Huang) was in the hot seat as Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) asked whether John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) was the father of her baby.
After substantial pausing and hesitation, Dr. Campbell said that the baby’s sample and Finn’s didn’t match.
Over at the Forrester Creations CEO office, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), Brooke Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang), and Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) agreed that it would be best if Finn, and not Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), was the baby’s father.
After some discussion, Thomas said that it was time for him to move out of Brooke and Ridge’s mansion.
Thomas explained that he was feeling better mentally and physically, and that he wanted both Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Steffy to be happy – and that the only way for that to happen was for Finn to be the father of Steffy’s baby.
Brooke wondered if Thomas would see it as an opportunity if Liam was the father, and Thomas said no.
Ridge and Brooke took off, and Vinny Walker (Joe LoCicero) walked in with a white lab coat over his arm. Vinny explained that he has been busy with this new job of his.
Thomas shared that Steffy was getting the paternity test results today, and that she was at the hospital with Finn, Hope, and Liam. Thomas said that the results would affect Steffy’s future.
Thomas said that he didn’t want Hope or Steffy hurt by this, and Vinny pointed out that if Liam’s the father, then it’s an opening for Thomas. “Don’t suggest that,” Thomas said. “That would kill Hope.”
Vinny thought that Thomas could be there to pick up the pieces. Thomas said that he wanted the baby to be Finn’s.
Vinny said that he has known Thomas for a long time, and that Thomas hasn’t had feelings for any woman like he has for Hope. “I’m here for you, and there’s nothing in the world I won’t do for you,” Vinny said. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Back at the hospital, Steffy was beside herself with grief, and Dr. Campbell said that she wished this could have turned out the way they all wanted. Hope was upset and lashed out at Steffy and Liam before running out of the room.
Liam ran after Hope. Steffy looked at Finn and said that she was sorry as she cried.
At Brooke’s mansion, Ridge and Brooke came home and talked briefly about the situation with their kids. Ridge lamented that Steffy had moved on and had a life with Finn.
Brooke said that they needed this paternity test to turn out the way they wanted it to, and she and Ridge agreed that whatever happened, they’d get through it together.
At the cliff house, Steffy and Finn arrived home. Kelly Spencer (Colette and Avalon Gray) was still out with the nanny, and Finn offered to be gone by then if that’s what Steffy wanted. Steffy said that she didn’t want Finn to leave. Finn said that he had already been thinking about the baby as being his.
Finn looked at the picture on the wall. “It’s Liam’s,” Finn said. Finn said that he wanted to have a bond with a child, but that Steffy was having a baby with Liam – again – and that he didn’t know how he fit in.
Steffy said that Finn was her partner and the man she loved. “Two kids, Steffy, two of them!” Finn said.
Finn lamented about how he thought he had broken Steffy out of that awful cycle with Liam and Hope. “He is my past – you’re my future,” Steffy said. “Don’t give up on me.” Finn said that was the last thing he wanted to do. “We can stay together,” Steffy cried. “I don’t want to lose you!”
At the cabin, Hope rushed in the door and immediately broke down crying. Hope told Liam that she had been willing to forgive and forget, but that’s impossible now. “Everything has changed,” Hope wailed. “Our family will never be the same now that you’re having another child with Steffy!”
Liam said he was sorry, and Hope ranted about how hurtful it was that Liam didn’t know that it wasn’t her with Thomas that night. “You gave up so quickly and slept with Steffy – maybe you want her,” Hope said. Liam said that wasn’t true, and that he loved Hope and always would.
