During the week of May 23-27, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) will face Eric’s life-changing bombshell.
Eric will explain that he’s being removed from the priesthood, so Kate and Roman will obviously wonder why.
It turns out the exorcisms Eric performed on Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) will be the problem.
Eric didn’t get any kind of official approval beforehand, so he’s violated the rules by carrying out exorcisms without permission.
Of course, Days spoilers suggest Eric may not be all that upset about the news.
It seems like Eric’s decision to become a priest again was more of a reaction to his split with Nicole than a true calling.
Eric has always felt the need to help others, but there are plenty of ways to do that outside the priesthood.
Once Kate wraps her head around Eric’s updates, she’ll assume this frees Eric up to give things another shot with Nicole.
Days spoilers say Eric will no longer have to live a life of celibacy, but he’ll shut down the idea of a reunion with Nicole since she’s happy with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) now.
However, Kate should be skeptical of that happiness since anyone can see Eric and Nicole’s lingering connection.
The same goes for Roman, who may think Eric needs to act fast if he still wants a future with his ex-wife.
Roman might feel like Eric knows he belongs with Nicole deep down.
Kate and Roman may try to give Eric a nudge back in Nicole’s direction, but he’ll struggle since they’re in a good place as friends.
Eric will have to face what’s in his heart, but he may not think it matters – especially since Nicole’s going to deliver a new engagement shocker soon enough.
Rafe and Nicole’s impending marriage will become a factor in all this, so that’ll bring another hurdle to Eric’s reunion with his true love.
