Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, February 21, reveals that Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) sold Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) engagement ring while Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) had some sleeping pills for Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). Here’s how all Monday’s DOOL drama played out.
After Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) sent a text to Abigail’s phone pleading for her safe return, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) replied back saying she couldn’t help him.
Chad wound up sending a death threat text before throwing his phone in frustration.
Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) showed up to discuss the investigation, so that led to talk about Kristen’s whereabouts and who might have information.
Chad decided to see if he could pry info out of EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).
At Statesville, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) gave EJ a commissary card along with a phone card, but EJ had no one to call.
Belle insisted EJ could call her if he needed anything and tried to keep the peace once Chad arrived.
Chad knew EJ had been in touch with Kristen, but EJ assured Chad that he’d lost track of their sister and couldn’t help find her. After EJ and Chad bickered some more, Chad made it clear that the world was better off with his brother locked up.
Next on Monday’s Days episode, EJ got more support from Belle and was grateful to have her as his lifeline.
EJ eventually made his way to his cell and greeted his cellmate, which brought a shock when Clyde Weston (James Read) rolled over on his bunk.
While Shawn came up with a new potential lead for Chad, Gwen was busy destroying the evidence.
Gwen smashed Abigail’s phone before Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) showed up at the door asking about the noise.
Gwen brushed it off before acknowledging that she knew Maggie didn’t approve of her relationship with Xander.
However, Gwen felt that Xander was moving on from Sarah and pointed out that he recently proposed.
In the town square, Xander told himself to stop being so sentimental and said Sarah was never coming back to him.
Xander gathered enough strength to sell Sarah’s engagement ring so that he could afford a new one for Gwen.
Back at the Salem Inn, Maggie didn’t think Sarah had been acting like herself.
Even so, Maggie wished Xander and Gwen the best once he joined them in the hotel room.
Once Gwen was alone with Xander, she doubted Maggie’s sincerity and acted like Xander was taking a big step down from saintly Sarah.
Xander assured Gwen that they belonged together and proposed again with the new ring, so Gwen happily accepted.
On the island, Kristen had some of Abigail’s breakfast – including a smoothie – to prove it wasn’t poisoned.
Soon after, Kristen began to feel the effects of the sleeping pills Abigail put in the drink.
Abigail admitted to finding those sleeping pills in an old medicine cabinet and was pleased once Kristen collapsed on the floor.
That allowed Abigail to look through Kristen’s pockets and find the key to the locked wing of the house.
In her bedroom, Sarah decided that since no one was coming to rescue her, she’d have to escape herself.
Sarah left a book called Love’s Bitter Harvest by Tiffany Townsend, which Abigail saw when she entered the room and started looking around.
After Kristen awakened on Monday’s Days episode, she discovered Abigail in Sarah’s room and was alarmed to see that Sarah was gone.
In the storm shelter, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) woke up to find a bag that contained Steve’s eyepatch along with their drivers’ licenses.
There was also a tray of food, so Kayla dug in since she was hungry enough to risk being poisoned.
Once Steve found some flare guns in the bunker, he tried using Kayla’s fork to pick the lock.
Steve cut himself in the process, so Kayla patched him up before Sarah opened the door and made a shocking arrival.
