The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 4, reveals that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will seek security footage while Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) confesses the staged accident to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), so some dramatic moments are brewing in Genoa City.
At Newman Media, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will decide it’s a little premature to report what Nick told her.
Since Sally will want to wait until she has all relevant info, Nick will insist that means a lot and vow not to forget it.
Meanwhile, Chance will subtly pump Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) for details on Nick, but she’ll realize what he’s doing and make an excuse to cut the conversation short.
At Newman Enterprises, Victor will find out Sally doesn’t plan to spill yet.
Nick will also confront Victor about all the unanswered questions of the case and give him another chance to come clean.
Victor will keep insisting that Nick’s conscience is clear, but Nick will lash out over not being able to trust his father – not when he always manipulates things into his version of the truth.
In the end, Victor will confess that his security team removed Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) dead body from the house and staged the accident in the ravine.
However, Victor will reiterate that Nick did nothing wrong and will maintain that Nick never meant to take Ashland’s life.
Victor will praise Nick for saving Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and will think the cops are going to move on.
After Victor pushes his son to move on as well, he’ll urge Nick to remember that his motive was to protect him from being investigated.
At Society, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will bump into Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and try to pry Ashland case info out of him.
Kevin will act like they’re just being thorough since there’s a lot of public interest.
When Sally pops up for takeout later, she’ll admit she doesn’t want things to be weird when she crosses paths with Adam around town.
Sally will confirm that she realized they’re better off apart and chose not to resign.
Sally will also talk about Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Nick making strong arguments for her to stick around.
The conversation will shift to Ashland, so Adam will think it didn’t have to turn out like this.
Adam will argue that Ashland should’ve been left alone with his payout, but Victoria just had to have total destruction.
Sally will find it hypocritical for Adam to talk about revenge since he nearly partnered with Ashland, but Adam will insist he shut that down.
After Adam realized Ashland was going after Victoria, he grew concerned and even sounded the alarm to the Newmans.
Adam will suggest he had no idea that Ashland would meet his fate in a simple car accident, but Sally will hint that he doesn’t know the half of it.
Although Adam will push Sally to share what she knows, Sally won’t be feeling very magnanimous after he called her pathetic and broke her heart.
Sally will declare that no matter Adam’s motives, he hurt her to get what he wanted – and now they’ll both have to live with the consequences.
Once Sally contends that her loyalty is to Newman Media, she’ll exit as Adam lets out a sigh.
Back at the coffeehouse, Kevin will give Chance updates on a tip that came in.
Last night, a car matching the description of Ashland’s vehicle was seen parked at a gas station, which was on the road that runs along the back end of Victoria’s property.
Chance will think they have to get their hands on the security footage from the gas station and the street cameras in the area.
This tip will fill Chance with hope about getting some answers.
As Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) heads out for her Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) takedown meeting, Diane herself will pop up at the Abbott house.
Ashley will grumble, but Diane will insist she had something to drop by for Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez).
Once Diane is alone with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), she’ll reveal that she brought some age-appropriate books to help Harrison deal with loss and grief.
Diane will assume Jack doesn’t think she deserves to be there for Harrison after what she did to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), so he’ll admit he might’ve felt that way a few months or weeks ago.
Now Jack will just wonder why he didn’t think of this book idea.
Diane will tear up over her second chance and won’t intend to take it for granted.
Before Diane goes, she’ll want to thank Jack for shutting down Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) at the park earlier.
Jack will insist he was mostly looking out for Harrison, so Diane will confess that she knows.
Still, if even a tiny part was looking out for her too, Diane will want to thank Jack for that.
After Diane points out it’s been a long time since anyone was on her side, she’ll leave – but not before giving one last longing look back at Jack.
Y&R fans will also see Jack looking emotionally affected by his interaction with Diane.
At The Grand Phoenix, Ashley will join Phyllis and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), so they’ll pitch how they’re going to make sure Diane fails and turn Kyle against her.
Nikki and Phyllis will feel confident that everyone else will follow suit.
Ashley will learn they want it to look like Diane is sabotaging Marchetti for personal gain.
Phyllis will explain how she’s scoring a job at the company so she can pull off an inside job.
Ashley will think it’s a horrible idea to jeopardize Marchetti, especially since it falls under the Jabot umbrella.
After Ashley brings up Gloria Fisher-Bardwell (Judith Chapman) and her tainted face cream disaster, Phyllis will argue that their plan will be a lot more nuanced.
Since Diane is a ticking time bomb, Phyllis will note that she’s just going to pull the pin out ever so slightly and wait for it to happen.
Nikki will toast to “kaboom” as she clinks her glass with Phyllis and Ashley.
