“The team is thrown into a highly political case after four members of the Taliban are shot and one is kidnapped in New York with no record of their entrance into the country. Having served in the U.S. Army, this case hits close to home for OA, who struggles to open up to Gemma about his past in Afghanistan.”

In tonight’s FBI episode, OA was back with his girlfriend. They’re still struggling with communication. She overheard him on the phone and she asked him about Anna. She heard him speak of Anna like he cares for her. She was curious because OA doesn’t open up about anything.
Well, he was continuing that trend seeing as he didn’t want to talk about Anna. The most he said about this Anna woman was that she was a widow of a friend of his that died overseas. OA was former military. He lost quite a few friends in the Middle East. He wouldn’t even get into detail about Anna’s late husband. Just that he was gone and that he looks out for Anna.
OA got called into work before he could get into a fight with Gemma. He was working a kidnapping. Maggie was still out on leave. She took Ella to see her grandparents and they were bonding. With Maggie out on leave, OA ended up going with Tiffany to the scene.
They were informed that Tyler Combs was grabbed. The kidnappers used a flash grenade to disorientate him. They then grabbed him at gunpoint. The whole thing was witnessed by a friend of his. She didn’t see the men’s faces. She could only describe their body types.
Tyler was the target though. The FBI went looking for him. They found the car that took him to a warehouse and they later found Tyler in good condition.
He had been drugged. Other than that he was fine. He had been taken because the kidnappers wanted to know about a meeting with his boss. Tyler works for Leo Grant. He was the world’s third richest man. The man also had an important meeting in an undisclosed location. Tyler was questioned about the location of that meeting. He gave it up because he didn’t want to die and the feds got information on where his boss was.
They went to the meeting. They warned Grant that he could be a target. They tried asking him about the meeting and what it was about. He closed up. He said he has to clear it with his lawyers. There was a shooting right outside of the meeting. Several men were killed. One was taken hostage.
The bad guys got away with their hostage and the fingerprints of the dead showed they were all Taliban. They were high up in the Taliban controlled government of Afghanistan. They were meeting with Grant because they wanted to make a deal with him.
Something that took forever to learn. They questioned Grant about his involvement with the Taliban. There was no entry on how these people made it into the United States and so they didn’t know if it was terrorism related. It wasn’t.
It turns out that Grant was acting as an intermediary for Secretary of State Evelyn Cates. She wanted this meeting to go down. She wanted the American government to buy mineral rights in Afghanistan. They did it through Grant so that the American people wouldn’t find out about it.
The whole thing was top secret. The kidnappers once again grabbed a victim. This time they grabbed Abdul Sayeed. He was the leader of the Taliban. He was running Afghanistan.
The men took him because they wanted something. The FBI didn’t know what it was at first. It wasn’t until they connected the flash grenades to a dentist in Queens that everything came together. The dentist was Dr. Michael Garrett. He bought the flash grenades. He gave it to the kidnappers because they all wanted the same thing. The wanted the safe return of James Garrett.
James was an American soldier. He got taken as a prisoner of war before the United States pulled out of Afghanistan. His platoon still had contacts over there. They heard about the Taliban coming Stateside to make a deal and they grabbed the man in charge hoping to do a prisoner exchange.
They wanted to trade Abdul Sayeed for James. This could go south. The Taliban could kill James or torture him to force the former American servicemen to hand over Sayeed. What will his buddies do then? It was important to the American government that Sayeed gets rescued before he could be harmed.
It didn’t matter if they agreed with the kidnappers. OA saw the Taliban as terrorists. He was a soldier like the kidnappers. He understood about not leaving a man behind.
He approached the kidnappers with negotiation rather than blunt force. They caught up to them. They found them hiding in another warehouse. One of them came out to talk to OA. They told him that they were already in contact with the Taliban. The Taliban have agreed to return James. He was reportedly already in the air.
The kidnappers didn’t want to let go of Sayeed until it was confirmed that James was stateside. But Sayeed cut through his zip ties. He tried going after them and they were forced to kill him.
Sayeed was now dead. They lost their biggest bargaining chip. Their involvement with the Taliban was going to come out. This was a black eye on the administration during an election year. The FBI didn’t care about that. They cared about James. They covered up Sayeed’s murder. They used Artificial Intelligence to pretend he was still alive.
Someone leaked what happened. The president was about to go on the news with what happened to Sayeed. OA had spotted James coming off the plane and it led to a shootout when the news broke.
The FBI were forced to kill the Taliban soldiers only they rescued James. James was taken to a hospital and he’s going to be alright. His friends were either dead or arrested. His father was going to jail. There was no one to meet him at the hospital. And so OA told him that his loved ones risked it all to bring him home.
OA went home to Gemma and he finally started to open up about everything.
